Noxious language online is causing real-world violence. What can we do about it?
My generation took pretty seriously, “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never harm me.” I’ve lived that mantra my entire life.

Sticks and stones...yeah, that one and another that comes to mind is “consider the source”.
There are so many more!
The way it is today, maybe everyone should just get on line and shout “Vendetta! Vendetta! at each other all day.
If only all the butt hurt tears could be bottled and sold, then these people could make a decent living and contribute tax revenue...at least.
Another thing is that we are just up to our necks in sappy sap sap sap!
Just watch it in TV commercials alone!

This is a reversion to tribal morality, that anything that violates social norms is a literal threat to the community.
This is the moral reasoning Islam uses to equate blasphemy and open dissent of Shariah mandates with attempted murder of all believers .... and justifies executing them to protect society.
You hear the same emotional foundation when someone says “you’re invalidating our existence” or even “you’re killing us” when you challenge social orthodoxy. They equate the emotional upset with attempted murder - and that would allow them to kill you in self-defense or for their tribe’s protection.
It shows how liberals have raised political dogma to a literal matter of faith.
