News that Washington didn’t tell Ukraine it was delaying aid until a month after Trump’s phone call punches a gaping hole in Democrats’ impeachment case. BuzzFeed reported Wednesday that Ukraine's Zelensky believed $391M in military funding was already headed to Kiev when he chatted with Trump in August.
Dems charge the prez held up the money to pressure Zelensky to probe Joe Biden and his son. Hard to see how that works when Zelensky didn’t know about the holdup.
This follows that several of the whistleblower’s other claims about that call aren’t borne out by the transcript. Speaker Pelosi and Intel Committee Schiff continue to claim Trump “undermined national security” and was grounds for impeachment. “Look at the sequencing,” urged Pelosi. “A few days before” the call, Trump “withdrew” the aid. Why? He “decided he was going to use [it] as leverage.”
Uh, so why didn’t he?
There was no mention of the aid during (or before) the call, and Zelensky says he felt no pressure. Nor is there any evidence he acted on any fear. And the funds got released last month without Zelensky giving Trump what Democrats say he supposedly wanted.
The case grew fishier after NYT reported the (eventual) whistleblower first consulted with a Schiff aide, who suggested he file a complaint — and also briefed Schiff on the broad allegations.
....this is starting to look as meatless as the “Russian collusion” tale. Which may be why Schiff is warning that any resistance to Congress’ demands for testimony or documents counts as “evidence” of obstruction of justice, and another impeachment charge.
Team Trump has every right to resist ..... pushback is not obstruction. And trying to use it for impeachment only suggests, as in Russia-gate, it’s the best you’ve got.

The WB didn’t lie. He only forwarded information he gathered from other sources who of course are probably lying. He can testify truthfully that he heard from others that Trump is a mean and silly man who bullied Zelensky.

Well they conveniently changed the rule requiring whistleblowers to give first-hand information so one can just claim they didn’t lie, just repeated something they heard somewhere.
And why is taxpayer money given to foreign countries when their are homeless veterans and hungry children in THIS country?
That’s an idea. The Democrats could charge Trump with collusion with a different country once a week. They could claim “collusion” for the first half of the week and when no evidence appears, they can claim that the lack of evidence is proof of “obstruction.” All they have to do is change the name of the country and change a few other names - just plug it into their template and repeat. The media will eagerly parrot it all without so much as blinking. The outrage mob will in turn be outraged about country x, then country y. Google could erase the “news” about last week’s country. The slogan could be, “Trump has always been in collusion with (the country of the week).” This would keep the true believers in a constant state of manufactured outrage.
So, what is the punishment for whistleblower lying.
The “whistle blower” sign an affidavit under oath that it was true. It is now clear the entire thing was set by the Democrats and the CIA so the affidavit is clearly false.
What is going to happen remains to be seen.
On a side note perhaps it is time to disband the entire CIA.
I believe a case could be made that they have created more problems for the US then they ever resolved. Intel is important but perhaps there should be a department that only collects data and is forbidden by law to interfere in either foreign or domestic affairs (as if that has stopped them from interfering with domestic politics)
