Whistleblower contacted Schiff before filing complaint: report
The Hill ^ | October 2, 2019 | Chris Mills Rodrigo

The CIA officer whose whistleblower complaint is at the center of the impeachment inquiry into President Trump consulted with the House Intelligence Committee before filing it, The New York Times reported Wednesday.

The whistleblower initially had a colleague convey his concerns that Trump asked Ukraine's leader to intervene in the 2020 presidential election to the CIA's top lawyer before going to Congress, current and former officials told the Times.

The whistleblower then reportedly changed course and spoke to an Intelligence Committee staff member who suggested that the person hire a lawyer and file a complaint.

The staffer shared part of the whistleblower's concerns with the committee's chairman, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), but did share the person's identity with anyone, according to the Times.

“Like other whistle-blowers have done before and since under Republican and Democratic-controlled committees, the whistle-blower contacted the committee for guidance on how to report possible wrongdoing within the jurisdiction of the intelligence community,” Patrick Boland, a spokesperson for Schiff, told the newspaper.

The development will likely add to Trump's attack that the whistleblower was motivated by partisan interests.

The complaint was eventually released to the public last Thursday.

Awfully similar MO to that time Christine Blassey Ford contacted Diane Feinstein before spewing false claims about Kavanaugh to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Dollars to donuts, Schiff and/or his staff helped:
1) “solve” the problem of the ICIG requiring first hand information to construe a whistleblower complaint credible. So they set to work changing the form. Every aspect of that change, every communication, etc., needs to be forced into the light, all persons deposed under oath, etc.
2) hooking the “whistleblower” up with an approved Lawfare attorney.

I want to see pictures of Naked Schiff published with an underage girl. Just a parody.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

IF TRUE, pictures of Naked Schiff are more likely to be with an underage boy.

Schiff and the Democrats have proven they’d crawl in the gutter to get what they want. Ethics, honesty, and integrity are not in their vocabulary.

That’s a good idea for a political cartoon.

Yeah, "duck and cover" from thrown objects but it was too late by then.

My apologies and my apologies for not reading down the thread before making a comment. It's just that so much disinformation is being spread and it irritates me.

Can you forgive me? "duck and cover"...just in case

Trump appointed him but there’s no evidence he changed anything related to this complaint.

Well, someone is responsible for changing the whistleblower requirements to allow hearsay from the prior first-hand requirement. Its been implied from what I've read (The Federalist, for one) that such changes have to be authorized by either the ICIG or someone very high up in the Intelligence agnecies. Who? And, if the ICIG had nothing to do with it, why didn't he note the change from prior practice in his comments on the matter?

Not really. I’m sure the Dems would love 6 months of discovery tying up Senate business. That would wipe out the final year of Trump’s first team.

><

And how would that make them look? This BS is going to backfire on them.

So what can they do about Schiff? He’s out of control and the Dems in the House are not going to do anything.

See if the conditions for whistle blowers were changed after Schiff met him?

Since when did Democrats care about that? It didn’t backfire in the midterms. Trump supporters are in prison. Criminal Democrats are free as birds. The proof is in the pudding.

How about instead we nip this Biden phone call nonsense in the bud now with some action by the Senate? Biden Jr. taking the 5th ends this nonsense and upends the Dems carefully planned coup for the moment.

It sure wouldn’t be a surprise if he wrote it or was responsible for it being written.

>Did Schiff WRITE the whistleblower complaint?

I can tell you right now probably what happened.

1) CIA guy comes up with a “someone told me that Trump was doing ______. Goes to staffer.

2) Staffer tells Schiff.

3) Schiff calls in lawyers, writes whistleblower statement.

4) ???

5) PROFIT!!!

“If the whistleblower is a CIA operative, isn’t going to Schiff outside the chain of command?”

Yep. Pretty sure he violated protocol in taking it outside his agency.

There are certain steps you have to do before info is sent to congress. He probably did not do them. I am not a lawyer, but i would not be surprised if he POTENTIAL whistleblower voided his whistleblower protection by going to congress first. (Not that he will be held accountable for it!)
Happy to hear a FR Lawyer regarding the subject.
