State Dept inspector general expected to give 'urgent' Ukraine briefing on Hill
ABC ^

Posted on 10/01/2019 2:48:17 PM PDT by janetjanet998

The State Department’s inspector general is expected to brief staffers from several House and Senate committees on Wednesday afternoon about documents obtained from the department’s Office of the Legal Adviser concerning documents related to the State Department and Ukraine, sources familiar with the planned briefing told ABC News.

Details of the briefing, expected to be conducted by Steve Linick, the inspector general at State, remain unknown. Linick is expected to meet with congressional staff in a secure location on Capitol Hill.

The unusual nature and timing – during a congressional recess – of the briefing suggest it may be connected to a recent intelligence community whistleblower allegation which describes, in part, the State Department’s role in coordinating interactions between Rudy Giuliani, the president’s personal attorney, and Ukrainian officials.

Sean Davis of The Federalist broke the story of the changing of the WB form from requiring first hand knowledge to be accepted as an urgent notice. Then the ICIG issues a 4 page letter trying to cover his ass. I suspect he’s going to try for damage control as the GOP Congressional members are now on his trail.

Anything state does screws Trump.

Exactly, by anybody but Pompeo but Pompeo is just one guy who is lucky not to drink poisoned coffee.

The IG will most likely remind Congress they are “out of bounds”.

State employees signed on with certain laws and regulations in place...Congress won’t be allowed to circumvent them,, because Congress enacted those same regulations and laws for federal employees.

They’ll be reminded of such...

But they’re both Obama appointments, so that’s not necessarily a bad thing when it comes to IGs. On the other hand, State is usually rotten.

I have to believe that if he was there without Pompeo’s blessing, we would already know it, so I have a hunch that this was a ‘good’ meeting for our side.

Source: State Department IG Has Been Sitting on ‘Urgent’ Ukraine Matter for 4 Months

The inspector general (IG) at the U.S. Department of State has requested to provide an “urgent” briefing related to Ukraine to congressional staffers on Wednesday afternoon on a matter that he was made aware of four months ago, Breitbart News has learned.

A Trump administration official told Breitbart News that Steve Linick, the IG at the State Department who began his tenure under former President Barack Obama in 2013, “has been sitting on the alleged ‘urgent’ matter for four months.”

Echoing ABC News, the administration official identified the subject of the briefing as Rudy Giuliani, U.S. President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, and Ukraine.

The fact that the meeting’s subject hasn’t leaked yet is another good sign.

If it was bad for Trump the MSM would have gotten word from their usual anonymous sources and be barking about it already.

4m Heads up....it was NOTHING, according to the democrat Congressman who said he has no idea why the IG of the State Dept thought that was urgent.

Raskin called the information an “irrelevant distraction” and questioned whether it was actually “urgent,” as the IG initially told congressional aides yesterday.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) was the only lawmaker in the briefing along with hordes of staff with State Department Inspector General Steve Linick.
