Yeah but wouldn’t it be naive to think this does NO damage to the president among independents?
We can’t HOPE that it doesn’t.

I don’t understand. If polling is in states with GOP senators and shows strong support, that will include independents in that state. Who vote for those senators.
Independents are not homogenous. They lean depending on their state and the news coverage in that state.
