And worse!
“Nor were they former Klansmen, if I’m not mistaken.”
You are mistaken.
I’m open to a true conservative black person telling me what I might need to know, that I may not already know. I’m not open to pandering. The black folks I’ve know in my military days, and the few friends I have today, I hope, never hold back their opinions due to my being white. When I look back, the black folks, and for that matter, folks of any race I served with knew that I would have taken a bullet to save them, and I knew they would even lay their own lives down to save me. It’s as close as family gets. There are issues in this country, faced by all of it’s citizens that we should be bound by. Black people, or any color of person who wear the same ideological “jersey” as I do, are on our team. Not my team, our team. Nothing less. If they’ve chosen to be liberals in their beliefs, I’ve no time for them. We need to be united. I’ve studied enough to know that there are some raw deals out there, some are getting persecuted. But the true face of political bravery, in this day and age, is a conservative of color. We need to support them whenever we find them.

Re: President Trump has now garnered quite a large percentage of [the Black vote] back.
2016 - 92% of Blacks voted against Trump
https://ropercenter.cornell.edu/how-groups-voted-2016
2018 - 91% of Blacks voted for a Democrat Congressman
https://www.cnn.com/election/2018/exit-polls
And you ignored everything else I wrote, which was more important.
I often think this. It’s not intended to alienate, rather just assumes that there’s not many black people here.
...but it is true, I agree with you. Unfortunately it is also statistically true that black people disproportionately commit more violent crime. So when an article doesn’t mention color - we’re quick to point it out with the sarcasm “...of course we all know”. This wouldn’t go unnoticed by anyone of color, it’s just not friendly.
Anyone saying FReepers ONLY judge individuals, not collectives, isn’t being honest with themselves.
Jesse Helms was not a Klansman.
It's probably fair to say he was a segregationist.
On the other hand, everything he predicted about civil rights legislation - quotas, lower standards, etc. - came true.
To my knowledge, Strom Thurmond was never in the Klan.
He was actually a Judge in a very famous lynching trial.
The white defendants were found not guilty by an all white jury, but Thurmond played a pivotal role in having the men arrested and tried in the first place.
Thurmond also landed with the 82nd Airborne at Normandy. He quit his judge job in 1942 and joined the Army at age 39.
This guy is full of used food and he is a bigot besides.
Hey Raynerd!
How about you stop insisting everyone has to change to exactly what you want so you will join the conservative movement?
If you are as conservative as you claim, then why are you viewing things through racist eyeglasses?
I don't recognize this kind of conservatism.
Re: Not according to other recent polling/reporting!
I have been reading that same exhausted sentence on FR every two years since 2000.
Re: And you ignored everything else I wrote, which was more important.
Like this? - “By treating everyone as just an American and not as a member of any race.”
Trump just signed legislation to let thousands of Black people out of federal prison before their sentences end.
Of course, Trump forgot to mention that 96% of them pleaded guilty to a reduced charge, so we don’t even know what crimes they actually committed.
Do you really think Trump would have signed the same jail break law if most of the convicts were white?
Of course not.
White Conservatives would have been outraged by that kind of Hard Left insanity.
+1
There is a reason diamonds are so valuable.
Conservatism isn’t a club. If it’s what you believe, vote accordingly. Not many blacks voting for conservatism.
So, speaking as a white person, would you say that the Democrats have reached out to you, and are willing to embrace you?
Simply rejecting political correctness is interpreted as being insensitive, and lacking in compassion.
Clearly written by someone who knows nothing about conservatism.
His whole thesis is “what you gonna gib me”
Your last sentence highlights the entirety of what was wrong with that article.
And how you have missed the point too.
Conservatives welcome everyone.
What do we need to do to indicate we welcome the ‘black community’ except promise the freedom to be left alone from big government? The same government that has destroyed black families and made millions dependent on that government?
What utter BS. Whenever theres a popular black conservative, liberals say theyre not real blacks. So once again we see them projecting ... their favorite tactic.
Raynard does some Blacksplaining to Whitey.
