Their Turn: ABC, CBS *LIE* About ‘Favor’ Trump Asked of Ukraine President

Seemingly following in the misleading footsteps of CNN host Wolf Blitzer and chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta, the Thursday evening reports on ABC and CBS lied about the contents of the phone call transcript between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Both broadcast news outlets misinformed their viewers and claimed the “favor” Trump asked of Zelensky was to investigate Joe and Hunter Biden, that was not the case.

As this author noted on Wednesday, any honest person who actually read the transcript knew the “favor” (which appears on the top of page-3) had nothing to do with the Bidens:

I would like you to do us a favor though because out country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a lot about it. I would like you to find out what happened with this whole situation with Ukraine, they say Crowdstrike [sic]… I guess you have one of your wealthy people… The server, they say Ukraine has it.

In the midst of her Thursday report on ABC’s World News Tonight, gushing about the actions of the anonymous whistleblower behind the complaint, senior congressional correspondent Mary Bruce proclaimed:

Just yesterday, the White House released the transcript of that call and it showed President Trump asked the Ukrainian president ‘to do us a favor’ and later urged him to investigate his political rival, Joe Biden.

Meanwhile, on CBS Evening News, chief congressional correspondent Nancy Cordes peddled a similar distortion:

Lie? The lie is the weapon used most often by the criminal. And liars with the ability to amplify the lie using their platforms. Paging Joseph Goebbels.

Anybody have a clue as to how the Inspector General determined that the “whistle blower’s” complaint was credible without having read the transcript of the actual call?

Was he looking at Schiff’s version?

Of course media will lie. There needs to be push back.

The best pro Trump media people are: Levin, Marc Lotter and Conway at this moment. Gulliani seems on edge and about to emotionally unravel; Stephen Miller seems hyper and distractable; and Jay Sekulow looks flustered and has a hard time beating Tapper or anybody at CNN.

This is not good. For some reason Republicans seem unnerved. And maybe this is natural. I think something heavy should go down because the Democrats are getting away with everything without consequence: e.g., Pelosi changing House procedures and Schiff making a mockery of the of his duty. People are frustrated that Republicans are taking a beating without any Democrats paying any price for their crimes and abuse. It has to end, but can the nation wait till ti the IG, Durham report? Something needs to be done to give people hope.

the actual, for real “whistleblower” in this whole circumstance is the President and this retributive show trial being orchestrated in the House is about Federal retribution upon a whistleblower (President Trump) for having shone the light of day upon their treasonous, seditious conniving

You can tell people about the bias problems with NBC, CBS, and the other more ‘trusted’ oldschool names in the news business until you are blue in the face. People are not going to understand and you just sound like a kook.

The media set the narrative for most people so well, it’s analogous to being in the matrix. There’s just no way for them to ever possibly understand by telling them. They need to be unplugged.

They had to say “favor...to investigate Joe Biden and his son”

Because saying “favor to investigate Crowdstrike and the DNC server in Ukraine” would cause awkward questions.

What’s the server doing over there? Did it get shipped out of DNC headquarters after the Bernie Sanders kerfuffle?

The Republicans are unnerved because they are naive and stunned by the total insanity of the Democrats.

_We_ are not surprised in the slightest.

This is weak.

He asks for a favor and brings up Crowdstrike and soon thereafter says “The other thing, there’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son...”

We shouldn’t try to BS people. True believers will believe - that’s what they do - but this is no longer just about the base.

The major media and the cable media gets its money from ads and from the cable companies, local and national.

Killing off cable subscription is the only thing that will cut their gravy train.

The media is no different than Schiff, they do parody, not news.

That’s right. The favor was a request for Zelenskyy to find out about the situation concerning Crowdstrike.

Here’s the White House copy of the transcript of the call between President Trump and President Zelenskyy of Ukraine.

If we had common sense regulations and licensing for “Commercial Speech” for compensation or gain, none of this would be possible.

Besides, there is nothing illegal about the President asking Zelenskyy to look into what Biden bragged about doing. Also, the President offered nothing in return, so there was no exchange.

And really, the President only asked Zelenskyy to talk to the Attorney General and did not ask Zelenskyy to report to him (the President). There’s been a concern about corruption in Ukraine for a long time, and our government has a treaty with Ukraine for investigating and prosecuting crimes committed by both Americans and Ukrainians there. Security in that part of the world is in our U.S. interest. Biden is not immune to being investigated any more than any other suspect is.

The Senate should dismiss the charges against the President at the very beginning of the hearings. The politicians do not need to waste any further time playing with fire against the American people with such criminal attempts to harass and obstruct the work of our President.

Then there was the Treaty with Ukraine for investigating corruption on both sides (here and there).

https://www.congress.gov/treaty-document/106th-congress/16/document-text

The Treaty is not there, so...

“For complete and accurate display of this text, see the PDF.”

https://www.congress.gov/106/cdoc/tdoc16/CDOC-106tdoc16.pdf

Scroll down past the blah, blah from Bill Clinton, until you see...

“TREATY
BETWEEN
THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
AND
UKRAINE
ON
MUTUAL LEGAL ASSISTANCE IN CRIMINAL MATTERS”

And there’s the Treaty. Start reading there.
