Houthi rebels in Yemen say they have captured a large number of Saudi troops after a major attack near the border between the two countries.
A Houthi spokesman told the BBC that three Saudi brigades had surrendered near the Saudi town of Najran.
He said thousands of soldiers had been captured and many others killed. Saudi officials have not confirmed the claim.
The operation was the largest of its kind since the conflict began, the spokesman said.
Colonel Yahiya Sarea said Saudi forces had suffered "huge losses in life and machinery".
All those captured would be paraded on the Houthi-run Al Masirah TV network on Sunday, he added.

If true, this is Saudi Arabia's biggest military defeat in a long time, perhaps in living memory.

I trained with the Saudis, they are cannon fodder. Their society is not structured to produce warriors.

All Arabs suck as professional soldiers in national armies.
As jihadist in islamic armies they can be much more efficient. Arabs can also be effective in tribal armies. Arabs have very little loyalty or love for any particular nation.
They hired Sudan mercenaries for about that, and they end up dead in large numbers.

Lol...I was going to say, when have the Saudi’s ever fought for anything? It’s usually “Onward Christian Soldiers” when they’re threatened. I remember one report that OBL, may he rest in p*ss, offered his Al Quaeda murderers to the Saudi Government after Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. He was turned down I suspect because the Saudi’s, having created a monster in AQ, didn’t want them threatening the “Royal House” after the war was over, preferring instead that they kill foreigners in other people’s countries. Apparently, KSA wasn’t Wahhabist enough for AQ. This led OBL to claim he attacked the US because there were “infidels” in the holy land.
True, they are committed murderers in a tribal or religious setting but would never fight for the concept of Country.
Of course Scharztkoph permitted the KSA to "lead" the way into Baghdad at the end of Gulf War I.
