Full title: Police confirm they are investigating Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage after he vowed to take the knife to the pen pushers in Whitehall as debate rages over tone of political debate in Britain
Police are investigating after Nigel Farage said he would 'take the knife to the pen pushers in Whitehall' at a Brexit Party rally in Wales.
He told the Newport audience: 'Once Brexit is done, we will take the knife to the pen pushers in Whitehall.'
Alliance Party MEP Naomi Long tweeted calling for police to investigate Farage for his comments.
She said: 'Can you confirm that you intend to investigate this clear case of incitement to violence against staff in the Civil Service? Thank you.'
Gwent Police, which operates in Newport, replied to say: 'We have been made aware of comments made last night in Newport and we are looking into these allegations.'
Farage's comments come amid growing fears about the language used by politicians.
Just yesterday former home secretary Amber Rudd accused Boris Johnson of being 'immoral' and using language that 'incites violence'.
Johnson said Remainer MPs were 'betraying' the people and describing their bid to delay Brexit as the 'Surrender Act'.

Or they are manipulatves trying to Alinsky Farage.
Choose the latter. They know exactly what they’re doing.
Another pig liberal.

Oh yes
She looks like the troll under the bridge.
No, she looks like she ate the troll under the bridge, and maybe the bridge too.
How ridiculous.
What really set her off was when Farage replied, Fat chance Ill take that back.
