Sen. Durbin Delays Green-Card Giveaway to India: He Wants a Bigger Giveaway
Breitbart ^ | 26 Sep 2019 | NEIL MUNRO

Posted on 09/27/2019 5:19:32 AM PDT by NobleFree

Democrat Sen. Dick Durbin has temporarily delayed Sen. Mike Lee’s green-card giveaway bill to Indian graduates because it does not give away enough green cards to foreign graduates from many countries.

Durbin’s block sends Lee’s business-funded bill back into closed-door negotiations where business lobbyists will keep trying to redesign the nation’s immigration system. The lobbyists are seeking to boost their corporate revenues and profits by steering well-paid jobs away from expert American graduates and their college-graduate children.

So far, no GOP or Democrat senator has spoken up to protect millions of American college-graduate voters from this joint effort by the Indian government and U.S. investors to transfer millions of jobs in American office parks to low-wage India, via the expanding U.S.-India Outsourcing Economy. The intended transfer of white-collar jobs mimics the disastrous transfer of many blue-collar jobs to low-wage factories in Chinese cities, following Congress’ approval of a free-trade treaty. [...]

as it stands, today, there are 3.5 million un- or underemployed STEM-educated Americans nationwide.

If that is the case, they're not applying for jobs with my Fortune 100 company here in Dallas.

It's a big country - not everyone is in a position to relocate to Dallas.

i have nothing against India but there are so many good American computer and engineering graduates who cannot get jobs that many youngsters shy away from these lines of work (and all the propaganda to get them to study “STEM” shows it, too). Put simply, Indians are (inho) welcome just as soon as “our” American corporations hire all of the capable Americans first.
(We’ve known top honors graduates who could not even get interviews at many of the leading USA firms, which continue to hire more and more people from India and communist China).

Why the heck are we pushing our kids, especially girls, to take STEM courses in school if Congress and Pres. Trump want to give graduates from India first picks on these jobs in our America? Write or call your congress critters to protest this giveaway.

They will still hire the girls as managers - no experience needed. :)

But even beyond that, IT as a discipline is not valued by American industry. It isn't seen as a key part of the business, but as something many prefer to outsource, when they can.

A very short-sighted and dangerous way to look at things in this day and age. However, I've seen it myself over and over.

They are, they just don’t make it past these layers: 1) ATS designed to screen out older workers 2) Millennial SJW HR and recruiter staff that don’t even consider entire groups of people 3) List of requirements for positions that NO ONE can fill, yet amazingly so many H1-b and other offshore candidates somehow have on their resumes (chuckle)

BS. I write the recs for my positions. The requirements for full stack developers are basic. By law, we have to review all received applications.

We have dozens of openings and get nothing but folks requiring sponsorship, which we no longer provide.

There is no supply.

Interesting... are you absolutely sure that you are getting all the applications? At my former employer, the hiring managers found out that the ATS was set up (in a subtle way) to reject older workers and other “undesirables”. Once they went through that process, they had to get past the SJW HR screeners. The hiring managers never even knew the applications existed to review. By law, the applications were reviewed (by the ats and HR folks) but not by those that mattered. It created a false sense that no one was applying. Many were, they just didn’t fit in with what leadership wanted (young workforce, less white males and super cheap). Might want to check on how your ATS is really working and perhaps directly contact prospects on LinkedIn and on other platforms.

Plus most IT and software engineering hiring managers are Indian now. As an American you will never get an interview. The position has already been set aside for someone still in India, just beginning his crash IT course.

I live in Illinois and nothing would make me happier than to wake up tomorrow morning and learn that Dick(head) Durbin passed away peacefully in his sleep overnight.......

The MINUTE you bring one Indian into the shop you've opened the floodgates. Never EVER hire an Indian.

I’ve experienced this directly. They are very loyal to their fellow countryman. However, in my experience many of their hires are relatives. Takes a long time to find that out. It’s impressive. Had an Indian colleague manager fill his entire department with Indians. Took over a year to find out he was related to EVERY SINGLE ONE of them. Great job, HR... lol.

Wow, you blame the victim. College students see what the globalist are doing. They pick their majors and see STEM is being out sourced. They are not stupid. What an ass.

he fears too many Indians will turn Republican after they get here.

Of all all Asians the Indians that can vote are LEAST likely to ever become Republicans. The vote for Hillary 93% over Trump 7%. That is not likley to change.

Isn't that the rule now - that H1B is approved only if the employer can't fill the position with an American at market rates?
