Ukrainian official appears to cast doubt on quid pro quo claim

An unnamed Ukrainian official said that Kiev was not made aware that the U.S. suspended security funds until a month after President Trump's call with his counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, which calls into question the whistleblower's account and Democrats' arguments that there was a quid pro quo for the aid.

The official told the New York Times that Zelensky's government was unaware about the aid issue up until a month after Trump's July 25 phone call where he discussed Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

The whistleblower complaint—citing U.S. officials—claimed that officials in Kiev were aware that the military aid could be in jeopardy in early August, but the whistleblower admitted to not knowing "how or when they learned of it."

“appears” my ass. It’s clear as day that there was no quid pro quo from Trump. Biden on the other hand....

I post in Mexico, I live in Mesico. This is what politicians do they strike deals, they barter, they reach agreements. EVEN if Donald Trump used U.S. Aid as a bartering chip, it has always been done, and not anything new. My friend, his brother was Ambassador to the USA and helped make the deal of NAFTA, he brought in senators to get them on board, he brought in Martin Luther Kings wife, to coax her to sign on. It was common that every Congressman had a favor to ask, to get his signature, to clear up a court case of land disputes, or to help someone’get a visa to the USA or out of jail. I am not shocked, and it doesn’t bother me if Trump dangled the money to get to the bottom of the corruption. WAS IT CORRUPTION, let’s open an investigation.

The wrongful media assumption is the president can’t use a “quid pro quo” to expose Democrat corruption. There is no reason on earth why Democrat corruption is off limits - except that’s the way the Democrats want it.

I think a major Democrat message is “Yeah we’re corrupt and this is what happens to anyone who dares expose it”.

It is pretty clear what we are looking at is just the next phase of the CIA’s war against us. IMHO they have made a serious mistake. This is war and war has only one outcome.

The so called whistleblowers to be identified,I don’t believe they qualify as a whistleblower, whoever it is admits they didn’t have first hand knowledge of the call, to prove this is a hit job on the President is the name of the person has Not been leaked,if it helped the Democrat case they would already have been on Cnn,msnbc, abc etc.

The notes/transcripts of the phone call are clear there was to pay-to-play. The ones who take official notes would have incorporated that issue if it existed.

Gillian Turner on Fox laid out the way note taking is done. I don’t like her much, but she was with State Department for a long time and knows the process well.

Basically, random note-taking employees are chosen to write the notes, and there are more than one. The official transcript is a compilation of what was written. If quid pro quo existed, at least one note taker would’ve caught it. It wasn’t there.

She said audio tapes haven’t been made for decades — IIRC, since Nixon.

I wonder if there would still be this controversy if Biden weren't running for office......

Of course now they will use this as an excuse for why Biden doesn't get the nomination.......Trump's fault!

Then he'll spend the rest of his days on a perpetual pity tour like Hillary

Are you missing a negative somewhere in your statement?

“The notes/transcripts of the phone call are clear there was to pay-to-play.”

CORRECTION: “There was NO pay-to-play.”

I’m pretty sure Ukraine keeps a eye on one billion dollars of foreign aid.

Trump was just asking the Ukrainian president to walk his anti-corruption talk.

They might forget campaign promises in Kiev too.

Using aid as a leverage in foreign policy is normal.

The Dims are trying to use the aid issue as something Trump tied to Ukraine investigating Biden and his son.

1. Trump NEVER asked that Ukraine investigate Biden. His reference to Biden was that reports have indicated that Biden senior pressured Ukraine to remove a prosecutor, and that prosecutor was investigating possible corruption connected to a company whose board included Biden’s son; and how Trump that that removal was wrong. The president of Ukraine seemed to agree.

2. Trump only said he thought that Ukraine should look into those matters, and again the president of Ukraine agreed.

At no time in that part of the conversation was a quid pro quo mentioned.

Trump should have Barr appoint special prosecutor.

That special prosecutor should investigate the above noted matters and determine if Biden senior (a) abused his power and (b) broke any laws. That special prosecutor’s team should keep working as long as the House is wasting time on so-called “impeachment” “inquiries”.
