A southern Alberta farmer who faced criminal charges for defending his property from suspected thieves is now being sued by one of the intruders.
Edouard Maurice was accused of shooting a trespasser in February 2018 after he fired off warning shots when he encountered two people rummaging through his vehicles at his property near Okotoks, south of Calgary.
Now Maurice is being sued for $100,000 by Ryan Watson, whose arm was injured and required surgery after the confrontation.

Classic example of why there are no “warning shots”. If you gotta shoot, shoot!!
Canada is so upside down.
It wasn’t much of a warning shot if he hit him.
Take a lesson from Tuco!
Key word is rural. Plenty of space to bury him.
“The case became a flashpoint in the ongoing debate around the issue of rural landowners’ rights to defend their property”
I wonder if the guy is suing on his own hook or if he’s fronting for someone with a bigger agenda.
Canada is what No Electoral College looks like.
No private property means violence.
The violent burglar
has suffered “emotional upset, severe fatigue and insomnia.”
Leftists, Democrats and Canadian pols are criminal requiring a big prison.
It wasnt much of a warning shot if he hit him.
I think he injured himself trying to get away in a hurry.
That’s why you shoot them. Wait until they bleed out to call 911. You still might get sued but the criminal won’t benefit.
The burglar is not suing because he was shot. He is suing because he WASN’T shot.
Ah, yes; the old Triple S...Shoot, Shovel and Shut up!
Maybe he was injured when he tripped and fell while fleeing after the shot?
Next time homeowner Shoot to Kill...
You see folks, this is why we can’t have nice things. When a criminal can sue the person they victimize, it pays to be a criminal. Mind you, I’m not talking about torturing someone you find stealing from you, but a small bullet in a fleshy part of the body can concentrate the mind.
