You pretty much nailed it, with your comment. One thing that has to be taken into account in your initial example is, age of consent. After that you’re spot on.
I have dealt with a few hardcore cases, back in the day. Young girls being trafficked and getting in way over their heads, real quick. So much so that I’ve seen them having to walk funny due to their hips being thrown out of whack and their uterus’ being so damaged they were never having kids. So, there are some real victims, for sure. But, you’d probably be shocked at how many seemed to enjoy it. Some that wouldn’t give up their pimp if their life depended on it. And in some cases, I guess it did.
As for the ‘sex worker’ that you mention, some of them want a union.
My issue with the article was with the FRC saying that the US leads the way. Hardly. It’s bad everywhere, but in some parts of the world the victims don’t stand a chance.
I think it’s Dubai, where one of the Southeast Asian countries, maybe Indonesia or the Philippines, will not allow their citizens to work there anymore.
Because no sane country would send their troops to do ‘peacekeeping’ in Africa, the African Union was formed to provide security throughout the region, under UN oversight. They can’t be used anymore due to the amount of rapes and sexual assaults they commit.
Had a work acquaintance from India, been here 20 years and a US citizen, get arrested and charged with child trafficking.
His wife passed away from a brain tumor. And about a year and a half later he answered an ad on backpage.com for prostitution.
It was a police sting. At some point they mentioned ages which were underage and he didn’t run. He showed up at a hotel with cash in hand.
Eventually they dropped the child trafficking charge and he was just facing solicitation. But it really turned his life upside down.
I think there’s a valid distinction to be made.
An adult female who utilizes her body, selling sexual favors, may or may not be committing a crime (or what should be a crime) in the differing opinions of reasonable adults.
Someone having sex with a child should be killed. Painfully. In public. Along with anyone who facilitated said rape.
I never understood how someone could be guilty in a sting like this where there was no real actual victim. Imaginary victims translate to imaginary crimes.
Look I get these guys are creeps, and I’m not defending their actions.
I just feel that I have zero sympathies for a “young lady” that can make a tramp blush.
I also feel that there are plenty of real unsolved cases that need attention. The cops doing things for the “Public Relations” effect, reminds me of why the ATF decided to attack the compound in Waco Texas, (when the invited media showed up before the ATF).
