In my entire 4 years in the USAF, I was only issued a rifle once. (It was actually rare for anyone in my AFSC to have a firearm, but there was a circumstance that required it.)
How did I feel?
Up to the responsibilities of carrying a firearm. That's it.

Yeah. Supposedly, there were arms enough for us all in the armory. Would have been a serious pain to schlep an M-16 around all day. Considering the amount of alcohol consumed, it was probably for the best.
