Same here. My beautiful conservative single 23-year old granddaughter informed me last week not to expect great-grandkids. I asked why and she said she doesn’t really like kids. LOL IMO, a woman that doesn’t really like kids shouldn’t have them.
She doesn’t dislike them but she likes old people better. She gets her license next month to be a Physical Therapy Assistant and is going on to be a Physical Therapist. Her goal is to work to help elderly people with mobility issues. When she did her clinical’s she worked at rehabs for the elderly.
I’m like you. I survived the Cuban Missile Crisis, The Vietnam War era, and the Civil Rights movement. Most of the young snowflakes now probably shouldn’t breed.
Shes 23, plenty of time for the wisdom of those who she will be treating to rub off. That, and she will be jealous once her friends start having kids.
So said my youngest cousin, youngest of her 4-sibling family.
At 38 she had her 1st then another. The only grandchildren for my kid-loving aunt.
Unfortunately she and her (younger) husband are liberals artistes.
My wife and I had two kids, when she was 27 and 29 YO. Right before she hit 40, the clock hit again in a big way. This time around, it took us nearly 3 years to conceive, and the last 12 months were difficult, i.e. finger pointing everywhere.
Becoming a dad again at 48 was never in my plan, raising kids is meant for younger parents. He's now 17, and a senior in HS. We're quite a contrast to most of the parents who are in their 40s.
No regrets, of course. IMO, a woman's biological clock is the second most powerful force in the universe, right behind compound interest. A man's sex drive comes in a distant third IMO.
So said a good friend at that age. She was the first of her four siblings to marry. Sadly, she is infertile due to health issues. As soon as her husband finishes graduate school, they plan to adopt. Shes in her early 30s.
