I saw it in 1983 and it had the level of the arm. We saw it 2 years ago, so 34 years later, and not lots more is done. There are however many areas to spend money built up around the site now, including an exorbitant parking fee. I guess it won’t be done in my lifetime, but they will sure have collected a boatload of money over the xxx# of years they have been working on it.

Stephen Ambrose had a book, "Crazy Horse and Custer", that I thought was interesting. Ambrose apparently liked Crazy Horse and not so much, Custer.
Well written, though.

Mr. RR and I have made the hike up four times.....I am now using a walker and no longer can make the trek. Our children and grandchildren still go every year. The hike up to Harney Peak is also great. Custer and surrounding towns all benefit financially. It’s a beautiful area we live in. Kind of like the Rockies, but more user friendly.

I remember a photo of that in LIFE Magazine, along with a large feature article, probably early 60’s.

I know friends on the Nebraska side that can see Crazy Horse from their porch. It wont be done in our lifetime
