Ukraine minister denies Trump put pressure on Zelenskiy during call: report

KIEV (Reuters) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko on Saturday denied suggestions U.S. President Donald Trump had put pressure on Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskiy during a phone call in July.

In an interview with media outlet Hromadske, Prystaiko said Ukraine was an independent state and would not take sides in U.S. politics even if “in theory” the country was in a position to do so. He added that Kiev appreciated the assistance it received from Washington.

On Friday reports by U.S. media outlets said Trump repeatedly pressured Ukraine’s president to investigate Joe Biden, one of Trump’s chief political rivals, in a July phone call.

The call featured in a classified whistleblower complaint that has sparked a political battle between Democrats warning of a national security threat and Republicans turning it into an attack on Biden, a frontrunner in the field of Democrats seeking to challenge Trump in the 2020 presidential election.

But as so many here worried about, the google algorithm is showing ONE article out of the first, maybe 50, that talks about Biden’s issues. The rest basically call for impeachment.

It’s fun for us to watch Trump troll thembut a LOT of the country gets its news by typing in google.

That’s not so awesome.

Ironically, only Politico reported the Hunter biden stuff.

I have always said that Trump is something that no other Republican is - not too shy to take out Biden.

Biden has had so many glaring weaknesses for so long. I can understand that he could hold a seat as a Senator. I was utterly baffled as Obama selected him for VP. But I never thought he would have a shot at the Presidency.

But if you look at the polite treatment he got in the VP debate in 2012 from Paul Ryan, you see the traditional Republican response. Which is to say, lay down and lose.

Trump is a different animal and I knew he would take out Biden, just not sure how he would do it.

So, we should not believe them because they are not trustworthy?

I was delighted to see some help for President Trump, but I guess we could all go back to:

NOT TRUSTING ANYONE.

Translation: We are not going to help the Trump admin investigate Biden/Jr. and Obama admin era corruption.

Oh, well. Doesn’t seem like good news here.

Don’t take this too seriously. Ukraine just wanted their money back from Manafort. It was just 17 million, but it is a lot for a country like Ukraine. Before it got all political remember that Trump fired Manafort.

They might not need to investigate. Slow Joe’s own words in his braggadocio video should doom his campaign.

.....Sure, if “by their fruits ye shall know them,” Joe and Hunter are obviously corrupt. A KNOW-NOTHING COKE HEAD gets a very high paying position in businesses he knows nothing about (Gas in the Ukraine, tech investments in China), coincidentally where his father has prominent political visibility. But, from the viewpoint of the bribing countries, you have to roll with the times.

Even if they were meddling in the election for giggles, their activity is a parallel to what the Russians were alleged to do "to favor Trump." That escalated into insinuations of breaking the law by the Trump campaign, national obsession over "nothing," and appointment of a special counsel. Billions wasted, plus "the law" has saddled itself with a reputation of being politically motivated itself.

"Son of a sitting vice president attempted to reap billions from privatization of oil and gas infrastructure..."

YES.

THIS should be the headline in the MSM.

I think Trump is master level trolling here.

The media will have to start digging.

"There are other ways to take your medicine Mr. McMurphy, but I don't think you'd like it."

The media won't like to take this medicine at all.

It will lead to dark places.

These are the same partisan hacks who will “moderate” and “Fatc-heck (sic)” the 2020 political debates.

A rigged debate is a rigged election.

“The July 25 call between the leaders is under investigation by three Democratic-led House committees, who want to know if Trump and his personal lawyer, Rudolph Giuliani, tried to pressure the Ukrainian government into aiding Trump’s re-election campaign

The only ‘pressure’ was by Biden to have the Ukrainian prosecutor removed from office Perhaps these 3 D’s should investigate that ‘pressure’. .

Thanks for your post. It’s almost like clock work - for every accusation the D’s throw out, it is that very thing they are guilty of.

Have Schiff subpoena him, then hold him in contempt of Congress when he refuses to comply. Then when he finally comes in to testify, Schiff will keep saying, “You’re lying, aren’t you. Trump really did pressure you, didn’t he?”

And he’ll answer, “Nyet. Not lying. You idiot. This is America how it verks? Kookooheads.”

And so on and so forth for ten hours.
