What’s generating the excitement is that “popcorn lung” is showing up among some vape users. This is serious lung damage.

The suspicion is that it isn’t due to mainstream vape products from outfits like Juul. It’s likely from an oil carrier being used in some flavored vapes.

Vaping is new enough that this is the guinea pig stage for those who are vaping.

Please excuse me a moment as I vent in the direction of people making bad choices and also at those wanting the government to step in.

This isn’t directed at you in any way, shape or form.

It sucks to be them. But they made their choices and can live, or die, with the consequences.

It isn’t the nation’s responsibility to make sure people’s lives don’t suck. Even dire circumstances aren’t delegations of power to permit the federal to do anything about them.

That’s true if their lungs are falling apart because of something they chose to do, or it they borrowed tens of thousands to learn from idiot SJWs how to be an idiot too, or any such thing.

People whose first demand is that there ought to be a law (insert here) should be tarred and feathered along with the politicians eager to reap power from them.

Also, not venting at the world but conversing with you: yes ... idiots are apparently smoking vitamin E oils. And I’m sure there’s someone somewhere experimenting to see if they can vape bacon (yes, I know, now that I’ve mentioned it someone will even if they weren’t).

The last known case of Popcorn Lung in the United States was 1989 so far as I know. Can you point to an actual case in the United States?

There was this stupid myth about some possible vape additive that could give popcorn lung and somehow that's popping up yet again. Not only is that flavoring not used in vapes in the US, but honestly, you need constant exposure of the powder in 10’s of grams - most vape tanks are less than 3 ml’s, and those larger tanks typically take days to exhaust...

But that myth was dispelled 5 or so years ago.

Diacetyl aka popcorn butter flavor.

Microwave popcorn factory workers first came down with it from repeated inhalation exposure to this butter flavor.

Not sure why anyone would want to vape it. It's pretty common knowledge amongst vape users.

They probably got it from China. Years ago i bought a few liquids from there. They put menthol in the bubblegum! I thought maybe they goofed and ordered another lil bottle. More menthol. If they are weird enough to put menthol in a bubblegum flavor, I wouldn't put it past them to use diacetyl.
