Microwave popcorn factory workers first came down with it from repeated inhalation exposure to this butter flavor.
Not sure why anyone would want to vape it. It's pretty common knowledge amongst vape users.
They probably got it from China. Years ago i bought a few liquids from there. They put menthol in the bubblegum! I thought maybe they goofed and ordered another lil bottle. More menthol. If they are weird enough to put menthol in a bubblegum flavor, I wouldn't put it past them to use diacetyl.
Apparently the investigators think that the culprit is a carrier oil used by 3rd party vape makers. I’ve heard that it could be vitamin E oil. Or it could be the Diacetyl as you have mentioned.
Reports are that the people getting sick aren’t always being real cooperative with the investigators, so who knows what they are using.
I guess if you’re gonna vape, buy straight from the big brand name makers.
