Chinese agriculture delegation scraps visit to Montana farms

Chinese agriculture officials who were due to visit U.S. farm states next week have canceled their trip to Montana as the officials will return to China sooner than originally scheduled, the Montana Farm Bureau told Reuters on Friday.

The cancellation came as U.S.-Chinese trade talks were held in Washington and U.S. President Donald Trump said he wanted a complete trade deal with the Asian nation, not just an agreement for China to buy more U.S. agricultural goods.

These Chinese folks made a commitment to visit these farmers, and then backed out at the last minute. Not exactly an act that will play well with the farming community.

No, they thought they were on the way to an interim agreement to play for more time.

Then Trump said he wanted a final agreement or else.

We have a country with so many assets and farmers have toiled and created and produced enough to sustain OUR nation and other nations around the world.

But it's our ethics that makes us great.

There is snow on the way. Maybe they forgot the cold weather gear.

I suspect that the Chinese know that Winter is coming.

What crops do they grow in Montana? I would think they would check out the plains states, midwest, California, and Eastern Washington.

They must have figured out there would be eyes on them and they could not pick seeds out of the ground like they attempted to in Iowa a few years ago.

Montana is big on cattle and wheat, and barley for beer. It might match Chinese climate and soil conditions better than the rich soil of the Midwest.

With Chinese Communists, literally everything is political.

That’s why “free trade” with China is impossible.

I’m not saying US and China can’t do some business, but Americans need to have their eyes wide open. Everything there is connected to government, and everything is viewed and managed through a strategic, national interest, state-security lens.

Trump is finally forcing America to realize this.

Americans need to have their eyes wide open.

Slick Willie gave the Chicoms "permanent most favored nation" trading status. It was a huge mistake. I wonder if President Trump has the authority to rescind it.
