Not a big fan of parliamentary government. Way too much compromising of values and lack of stability and no real separation of powers.

I never understood why more countries don’t look to adopt a modified U.S.-type system with a separate executive branch of government.

Totally agree. What makes it even worse is proportional representation which leads to having a dozen parties in parliament with no one in the majority, so they have to form coalition and you as a voter have no idea what the governing majority is going to look like or what it’s policies are going to be.

And the majority in parliament gets to pick the chief executive (PM), so you have the legislature and executive always of the same party which makes passing laws too easy.
