I agree, the sanctions are much more effective than lobbing a few cruise missiles.

In today's 24/7 news cycle, instant texting/communications people are impatient and demand immediate everything.

Anyway, it would be more effective to take out Iran's refineries and refined product import terminals. Storage facilities too. If repaired, hit 'em again.

If it were so simple, it would have been done already. The problem is that it would likely spark a regional war that would effect 5 of the top 10 oil exporting countries in the world. A war with Iran in the PG would be a disaster for the global economy, including ours. Trump is smart to avoid such a war, even at the risk of being called "weak" by all the neocons.

One way or another, we need to bring Iran to heel, but war is the least desirable of our options. If Trump can get the EuroTwits to quit backstabbing us on Iran, the sanctions would have more bite. Then, maybe the Persian people can clean their own house. If war DOES happen, you can be sure we will jump in with both feet to end it as quickly as possible. We are not going to sit back and watch Iran and the GCC countries destroy each others oil infrastructure and close down exports from the PG.
