Prosecutors say American Airlines mechanic accused of sabotaging flight has ties to ISIS

Federal prosecutors on Wednesday claimed a former American Airlines mechanic accused of sabotaging a flight’s navigation system had ties to ISIS, according to ABC10.

Prosecutors in Miami said Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani admitted to sabotaging the airplane July 17 ahead of a scheduled flight from Miami to Nassau, Bahamas, but said it was out of frustration over stalled union contract talks.

The pitot system is part of the navigation system. Airspeed is a component of navigation, ATA chapter 34.

Obviously, what this nation needs to do now, to prove that we are not taking offense at this, is to import another million Muslims and give them critical jobs with security clearance.

Who at American Airlines was responsible for clearing such a person to access and work on their planes?!?

Find them; name them; fire them.

How could our flights’ safety NOT be compromised when this is the state of affairs?

From https://archives.frontpagemag.com/fpm/flying-while-counter-jihad-robert-spencer/

...If Roula Allouch really wants to know what it’s like to be gratuitously harassed while flying, let her declare that she doesn’t think Islam is a religion of peace.

For well over a year now, every time I fly American Airlines, which up until recently has been almost every week, I’ve been subjected to extensive and time-consuming extra security checks. This never happened when I flew any other airline, only American — but I was a Platinum frequent flyer on American, so it happened often.

After repeated inquiries, I finally found that it was because American Airlines and British Airways are partner airlines, and British Airways was requiring that I be subjected to these extra security checks to make sure I wasn’t flying to Britain.

I am, of course, banned by the British government from traveling to Britain because I noted (correctly) that Islam is “a religion and is a belief system that mandates warfare against unbelievers.”

I wasn’t banned for any criminal activity and have no criminal record. It is, moreover, perfectly clear from my flight ticket in every case that I am not traveling to Britain. Hence these extra security checks to make sure I am not flying to Britain simply constitute harassment, mandated by British Airways and perpetrated by American Airlines.

I wrote to American Airlines explaining the situation, noting that I had been a loyal and frequent customer for many years, and asking that they stop the extra security checks. All I got back was a form letter.

So apparently American Airlines only wants the business of those who believe Islam is a religion of peace. Very well. I will go elsewhere, and I hope you will, too, and avoid American Airlines whenever possible.

Move along, it’s just somebody trying to do something to some people. So says Ilhan Omar, aka, Congresswoman Jihad.

We are nuts to hire Muslims in critical airline jobs, including airport security.

Yeah you are right but WE are not the government anymore and have no say so. We are just citizens that pay our taxes into the DC cesspool.

His connection to ISIS is probably just a coincidence. We mustn’t give in to Islamaphobia just because there are 100 million Muslims worldwide that want to kill us.

re: “The pitot system is part of the ...”

In their book, not mine.

Strictly speaking you can FLY w/o electronic navigation systems (VOR, NDB, GPS) but NOT airspeed (not a modern airliner anyway.)

https://learntofly.ca/six-pack-primary-flight-instruments/

The 6 basic flight instruments are divided into two categories. Three instruments are connected to the aircraft’s Pitot Static Pressure System, and the other three are Gyro Instruments typically driven by the aircraft’s Vacuum system pump. It’s important for student pilots to recognize this difference. In the event of a partial system failure, the pilot will be better prepared when they recognize the specific instruments that may be affected.

The 6 basic flight instruments:

1. Airspeed Indicator (Pitot Static)
2. Attitude Indicator (Gyro)
3. Altimeter (Pitot Static)
4. Vertical Speed Indicator (Pitot Static)
5. Heading Indicator (Gyro)
6. Turn Coordinator (Gyro)

I specifically remember that they said they detected the problem when they were on the runway.

However - and that is a big remember - do journalists know the difference between a runway, the tarmac and the taxiway? I doubt it.

These are the same ill-informed people who said things such as Bullets are flying off the shelves!!
