A homeowner in Georgia shot and killed three young masked men at his home early Monday morning, according to Rockdale County Sheriff Eric Levett.
Authorities identified the three deceased individuals as juveniles Monday evening -- two 16-year-olds and one 15-year-old -- but have not released their names. The sheriffs office told ABC News it waited to release information about the teens, all from Conyers, Georgia, until all three families were notified.
The homeowner, who has also not been identified by deputies, was taken to the station for questioning.

If an “assault rifle” was used against the alleged attempted robbery individuals, then shouldn’t it be called a “defense rifle”?

“Why would this be stand your ground when the intruders were inside his home?”
It would not. Reporters know absolutely nothing about what they report.

What a tragedy!! Three budding criminal careers cut short because if they're willing to commit armed robbery at 16 & 15 yo there probably would not have been much hope for their leading an honest life later on. If Erica Thomas had just been able to pass her gun confiscation bill, then these fine upstanding sterling teens would still be alive today

If you go to the article it appears the shoot out may have occurred in the yard, outside the home.
To: Navy Patriot
All outside at 4 am??? Everyone was up to no good, it would appear.

In my state one has a legal duty to run from danger whenever it's deemed possible by prosecutors. That included when strangers break into your home in the middle of the night. Of course that law doesn't apply to the elite...John Kerry, the Kennedys,Osama Obama, etc.

From the article....
"It was five shots, and then it sounded like a handgun. Then I heard somebody have an assault rifle. And it was a slew of shots that came out," neighbor Carlos Watson told the station.
Then I heard somebody have an assault rifle. Huh?
Not very helpful....

He and a friend just happened to be standing outside his home at 4am, armed with a rifle and a handgun respectively, when these dudes in masks approached them.
This sounds so innocent. Drugs could not possibly have had anything to do with it, and especially not a drug sale.

The article I read yesterday said it was home invasion by masked men. That wouldn't surprise me. News reporting is so sloppy now that a story changes every time it's written. Any chance you can recall the link/source for that? I'd be interested in comparing it with this story.
Also, all FReepers should keep in mind that most of these "articles" are written by "reporters" who never leave their desks. They make a couple of phone calls and generate the story from that. Hence the incoherence and conflicting information. And the often padding with semi editorial statements throughout.
For example, why include this incoherent statement in the story? Because it contained the trigger words "assault rifle".
"It was five shots, and then it sounded like a handgun. Then I heard somebody have an assault rifle. And it was a slew of shots that came out," neighbor Carlos Watson told the station."

It’s my understanding the shooting occurred in his front yard when the “youths” tried to force him back inside for a robbery.
