Global warming hysteria has driven a lot of stupid investment in purportedly green energy production that turns out to create new problems. Wind farms that kill millions of birds because migratory birds follow the same winds that are ideal for wind power, for instance. Bald eagles, normally illegal to kill in the United States, are allowed to be slaughtered by wind farms.
Then there are the massive lithium batteries needed for electric cars, full of toxic heavy metals, that pose a huge problem of disposal when they wear out after about ten years. And the solar energy farms that eat up vast acreage and incinerate passing birds with their death rays.
But now the BBC focuses on yet another blowback from green energy policies: the allegedly super-duper, extra-special global warming gas sulfur hexaflouride, abbreviated as SF6, that is leaking into the atmosphere from electrical equipment, where it is used as an insulator, to prevent fires and explosions.

Absolutely right! The left isn’t interested in protecting the environment. It wants to destroy our civilization as we know it.
“full of toxic heavy metals, that pose a huge problem of disposal when they wear out after about ten years”
I guess that the author has never heard of recycling batteries ...
Article doesn’t mention another problem with wind farms. They kill bats, lots and lots of bats. Bats eat a LOT of mosquitos, lowering our risk (and animals’ risk) of mosquito-borne disease spread.
Yes, bats have echolocation capability and can avoid the blades. Yes, they fly right through the whirling blades. The problem is, the air turbulence crushes their lungs when they fly through and they are history.

The Problem With Recycling Batteries

Thanks for posting about repurposing ev batteries!
Also note that the $ figures given in the article are probably already out of date.
Which they can then use as an excuse for more control over our lives.
“The lithium part is a really negligible cost when you compare it to other metals; nickel, cobalt, those are going to be the biggest drivers [of recycling], says Kelty, adding that Tesla actually makes money by recycling just the nonlithium recycled components of its batteries. So while weve been reading plenty of articles about the industry running out of lithium, its totally missing the mark. Theres plenty of lithium out there.

More bullshit. It takes a while for the full recycling chain to crank up...as has already been done for lead-acid. As that happens, cost will go down and percent recycled will go up. But the article is right (and already happening)...EV batteries that have lost full capacity are still very usable for stationary storage. In fact, the final cycle will probably involve several stages of re-use before finally losing sufficient performance to require recycling.

That's 5,615 projected coal powered plants in just 8 countries.
USA has 15 - building 0 more...Total 15
And Democratic politicians with their "green new deal" want to shut down those 15 plants in order to "save" the planet. This makes the point. Whatever the USA does or doesn't do won't make a Tinker's Dam regarding CO2 unless the rest of the world - especially China and India - does reduce coal-fired power plants, too.
Green New Deal???
Some of these nits are so deranged with envy and the want of power, they are willing to try to impeach this POTUS and Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh for NO CAUSE.....they're actually still looking for a crime.........vote for anyone on the Left? Do so at your own peril and that of your countrymen.

Yet despite all those plants, there still is virtually no CO2 in the atmosphere.
