Costs of Hurricanes are increasing. Chuck claims this is proof of climate change.
Is he ignorant? Stupid? deceitful? Or all of these?
Hurricanes are more expensive for two reasons:
1) We Americans are building more, and more expensive, properties in the path of hurricanes.
2) Disaster relief incentivizes developers to build in the path of hurricanes.
Water is a special case. There is far more damage due to water, than to wind. We incentivize development in flood zones. We incentivize a construction style that will maximize use of taxpayer money in flood zones.
Someone needs to spread the word. Regardless of whether there is or is not climate change, our actions are illogical. And especially if there is climate change, our actions are illogical. Long range, our policies are making developers and porperty owners even more dependent on the whims of the politicians and bureaucrats.
