An interesting development. Why not release the name(s), the families and the country deserve to know the truth. We already know that there were plenty in the US bureaucratic apparatchik that also facilitated the plot - though unwittingly - by doing stupid things such as granting some of them visa extensions without them even requesting one. I am told on authority I trust that some of the hijackers were men dressed in woman’s hijab to try to fool security personnel (Arafat used this same trick to escape capture at least once). And they must have also had accomplices on the ground who planted the blades and devices which they claimed to be explosives used in the hijacking of the planes. I also believe there were other hijackers prepared to take more planes and do more damage but thankfully the FAA put a quick halt to any further take-offs early enough that morning that prevented an even greater tragedy. As horrible a day it was, I truly believe we can be thankful for small things as much as we can deplore the small things that enabled those who got away with their atrocities.
You must not have flown with US passenger airlines prior to 911? I did, and security was very lax. The 911 hijackers had no need for hijabs, plants, etc. In fact, those things might have increased their or their plans’ (low) risk of apprehension, boarding those planes.
