Neil Gorsuch on Supreme Court: 'Do you really want me to rule the country?'
The Hill ^ | 09/10/19 | Chris Mills Rodrigo

Posted on 09/10/2019 7:46:03 AM PDT by yesthatjallen

Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch responded to critics who might think that it is the job of judges to fix politics in an interview with CNN released Tuesday.

"Do you really want me to rule the country?" he asked.

"It is a raucous republic and the battle of ideas is what our founders had in mind," he continued. What they didn't have in mind "was nine old people in Washington sitting in robes telling everybody else how to live."

Gorsuch was appointed by President Trump in 2017 to fill the seat vacated by the late Justice Antonin Scalia.

He told CNN that he wants to continue Scalia's work by reinvigorating a judicial philosophy that looks to the original meaning of the Constitution.

Gorsuch said that his job is enforcing that approach "as faithfully and fearlessly" as possible.

What they didn't have in mind "was nine old people in Washington sitting in robes telling everybody else how to live."

But nine young people...that would be just fine.

Let's see, Sandy Cortez, Alysa Milano, Taylor Swift...and six other equally mentally gifted individuals deciding every aspect of our lives.

The most refreshing comments I’ve ever heard from somebody wearing a black robe.

Thank you, Mr. Justice Gorsuch.

Trump has given us both Gorsuch and Kavanaugh. Win a few, lose a few...

"It is a raucous republic and the battle of ideas is what our founders had in mind," he continued.

But-but-but the National Socialist Democrat Workers Party assures me we have a pure mob-rule democracy. Are they wrong? Isn't the Constitution really just a 'charter of negative liberties' like Barry Soetoro taught when he was a part-time college instructor?

One more like him and we can get back to focusing on our corrupt elected officials to correct our nation’s ills.

As opposed to Anthony Kennedy who thought he knew better than any other human being who had ever lived what a marriage should be.

Did you read the comments on The Hill? We're going to have to liquidate them all...

The Holy Inquisition had more logic.

No, but I’d be very grateful if you’d stop all the little black robed asshole tyrants underneath you from doing the same.

I agree with him, I don’t want him ruling the country. The liberals have a very different view of the courts. The liberals want liberal judges to rule over us.

The liberals would actually agree that they don’t want gorsuch ruling, instead they want Ginsburg and Sotomayor and liberal judges to do the honors.

I think Kavanaugh will turn out to be John Roberts 2.0.

I sure hope Kavanaugh doesn’t turn out that way. After the liberals fought so hard I took that to mean they really feared how conservative he would be. Stay tuned.

I’m pretty sure they didn’t intend for one Federal judge to be more powerful than the President either, but that’s where we are.

I also object to 1800 unelected Federal judges issuing nationwide edicts and I utterly fault our President for tolerating this tyranny.
