None dared speak its name, until today.
Free China!
The ChiCom Government would slaughter 20 million of their own people before this happens.
L
What’s 20 million Chinese?
A little less than 1.5 percent.
tell that to Tibet.
For financially minded people, here is a great interview with Kyle Bass, who for a Westerner has pretty deep knowledge about China.
To my aggravation this link starts you at minute 17, which is stupid, but you can use the slider bar to start it from the very beginning.
One tease is that China pre-warned all it’s billionaires about the currency crisis to come, and those guys all acted swiftly to get their money out of China:

True. The farm aint much but I aint selling it for this BS.
Fragility is the consequence of any highly centralized government. Plato said as much. Xi is making himself to be like a bowling ball balancing on a pin. Their thuggish power is their attempt to keep this precarious balancing act going on.
200 million without even blinking.
This is silliness just good for attacking Trump.
There’s a much bigger ‘picture’.
“200 million without even blinking.”
Much tougher to do nowadays- they can’t kill off their brainpower, since they rely on it, and sanctions in the 21st century would crimple them economically. Even Iran and Russia would balk and trading with a genocide like that (yes I know you meant that in jest).
unlikely, but what patterns would a PRC break-up follow..?
Not like the USSR, with little fighting.
Not like the former Yugoslavia, with some fighting.
Instead China would follow Chinese patterns, with a level of fighting totally unlike the two above scenarios.
The good part:
The problem posed by many millions of Chinese men having no hope of marriage would, in time, go away.
China has the most powerful economy in the world.
It’s leaders are tough men.
“China has the most powerful economy in the world.”
China may have a very resilient economy, perhaps the strongest in the world in that regard, but in terms of power, the US is still a good amount ahead with only 1/3 of the population. Per capita it’s not even a competition.
Was Reagan RESPONSIBLE for the USSR going away?
Some say yes, some say no.
Is there a small chance that one day Trump will be seen by historians as the President who set in motion pressures that ended up triggering a similar process in China?
I think so.
No hope of marriage might explain the unrest in Hong Kong.
Young men without hope are often unruly.
We win, they lose, gotta love it!
That’s why with India becoming a strong partner with this U.S. also plays havoc for China, with slumping economy and social unrest.
This is a good perspective on the currency and finance challenge, despite what the China Experts of FR think.
There are other observers who are equally concerned about China’s internal strife over “One China” and Xi’s vision that includes not only integrating HK into Guangdong but also Taiwan. They have not taken their eyes off this prize and have been putting CCP people into key positions so it will be less of a war than an inside job when it happens, just as is going on in HK today. Anyone who thinks HK will win is naive, it’s Chinas and they will do it one way or the other - once you get past what “experts” think, the reality is that over 3000 people have been “removed” already, not the handful they admit to in public.
Some China observers speak of whether the CCP will survive in its current form for more than a year or two. It’s that serious. Trump knows this of course and that’s why he is single-handedly taking advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity to maintain US global superiority and stopping China’s quest for domination.
“The ChiCom Government would slaughter 20 million of their own people before this happens”
In the old days yes, but not now.
The Hong Kong protestors are alive and well. The current regime looks week with each day that this goes on.
But if China slaughters them they will lose access to markets in the US, Europe, etc. Their economy will be in ruins fast.
