My dislike for McCain was intense, but that being said, there is no way I preferred Obama over him, at least McCain would have had some good people in his Cabinet.

My opinion is that there were a lot of Democrats who would have pulled the lever for McCain over Obama, especially those hard-core Hillary supporters, who were still bitter with the way the nomination process went in 2008. But Palin, basically made them leap into the arms of Obama in the end, although she did fire up the hard-core conservatives.

Without Palin, McCain would have had almost no conservatives voting for him. I was disgusted at the thought of voting for McCain. I was convinced that he was going to select Joe Lieberman as his running mate (I do believe he wanted to). Had he done so, there is no way I would have voted for him.

Looking back, I don't think it made much difference. McCain became even more loathsome in the years since the election.

I don't recall it having to do near so much with Palin, although they did give her the "she's awful, stupid, unhinged, AND Hitler" tag they have tried to lay on Trump.

No, I think McCain dug his own grave by not hanging the monetary crisis around the dems neck (he was incapable), his foolish suspension of his campaign, falling off a stage, and generally being a bad candidate who stood for nothing.....oh wait, he was a maverick who reached across the aisle, or something.....

McCain was simply awful, and couldn't face down the light worker, didn't even seem to try. Not sure who was the worse candidate, he or Mitt.

After Palin he gained ground fast.

Then he suspended his campaign etc...Did his crazy McCain things.

Palin increased his support.
