McCain in his decline of a number of months before he died said picking Sarah was his biggest mistake and then he doesn’t invite her to his funeral. That to me said it all about him. As said above in 20/20 hindsight she should have refused his invitation to run with him.
She should have declined to endorse him in his last reelection bid, but she was too loyal to do that.
