Some say these car hauling ships are top heavy.

Another article I saw hinted that the ship hit a sandbar while passing another ship.

I was up there just a few days before this (doing a Cumberland Island trip) and the Captain said that the sandbars shift. This is monitored but maybe, so soon after Dorian, it wasn’t completely finished moving.

From the photo, it's obviously laying on the sandbar. To us sailors/mariners, it will be interesting the exact cause for hitting the sandbar.

I've been on more than my fair share of car vessels. It's essentially an eight story floating garage and the draught isn't generally that deep.

FWIW - crew accommodations, 4 Star Luxury compared to any other cargo ship. Not too far behind cruise ships.
