GOP Senator Says We Have To Sacrifice Our Gun Rights So Democrats Don’t Take Them

A back fire may help save some homes from a wildfire but the same principal doesn’t apply when it comes to our civil rights A Republican Senator is saying the we should sacrifice some of our 2nd Amendment gun ownership rights so the democrats don’t take all of our gun rights in the future. Listen, you don’t negotiate with terrorists or the devil. This is quite possibly the dumbest thing a Republican has ever suggested.

The Hill reports that Republican Indiana Senator Mike Braun is ready to sacrifice some of our gun rights in hopes that that the rest of our gun rights will be saved.

“I look at it this way, if we’re not willing to do the commonsense stuff probably legislation will occur that we’ll regret that will actually I think will infringe upon Second Amendment rights down the road,” Braun said.

And what, pray tell, is the “commonsense” stuff?

“I think for those of us that want to always make sure that law-abiding citizens can own and bear and use a weapon, that we’ve got to talk about it and start doing some things or else I think we’ll get overwhelmed to where we’ll lose down the road that Second Amendment right,” said Braun.

For a guy who says “I think” that much, he sure isn’t thinking at all. There are numerous problems with his willingness to capitulate some of our gun rights to the democrats.

First, there is the 2nd Amendment, which guarantees our right to keep and bear arms. This right is backed up by a Supreme Court decision that says gun ownership is an individual right and the we are all allowed to own guns “in common use.” The democrats can try to pass whatever gun control laws they like, but they can’t get around the Constitution on this. To negotiate away our rights when they have absolutely nothing to bargain with is incredibly stupid.

Second, there is no negotiating with democrats. It either their way or nothing. Period. They won’t give an inch and expect the other side (our side) to give up everything. There is no give and take with them, just take.

Lastly, any sacrifice of our gun rights is not the end for democrats, but the beginning. Their endgame is the the abolishment of the 2nd Amendment and the complete disarmament of the American people. Look at New York and California, states controlled entirely by democrats. They have the strictest gun control laws in the country and yet every single year they pass more gun control laws. It’s never enough for them and encouraging them by caving on some minor issues will only lead to more demands.

If you need any proof of the democrats unwillingness to negotiate, just look at immigration. They wouldn’t trade border security funding for permanent legal status for DACA recipients. The reason is because they want open borders and citizenship for every single scumbag who sneaks in the country. They will accept nothing less.

The same is true on gun control. Republicans couldn’t get a deal for concealed carry reciprocity in exchange for universal background checks because democrats are only willing to move in the direction of total disarmament.

Sacrificing some of our gun rights because we might loose more in the future is dumb on so many levels. We currently have a Republican President and Senate so democrats can’t do a damn thing about anything. Should they somehow gain control of the White House and the Senate, there’s still the 2nd Amendment and the DC v. Heller decision so they still couldn’t do a damn thing about it.

The only way democrats can impose their gun control wet dreams is by repealing the 2nd Amendment and that’s never going to happen. Negotiating away our rights based on an impossibility is something so stupid it sounds like an idea that would come from a democrat. Shame on Senator Mike Braun for even floating this.

I always knew this guy would do this. He was a RAT before the last election.

Mike Braun (R-K Street). Is there anything more useless on this planet than a “Republican” United States Senator?

Had to respond to him:

@SenatorBraun You’re in the wrong Party - giving up gun rights so “they don’t take away gun rights” is akin to saying we should commit suicide so “they don’t kill us”.
Either stop kneeling at Queen Nancy’s and King Charles’ throne (it’s a loveseat) or just join them in name too.

Remember when we thought Mike Lee, Ted Cruz and Jeff Sessions were decent people and conservatives to boot? There is not one decent person in the Senate.

Its the the uniparty - at this point if you haven't figured it out and are still playing red team blue team Republican/Democrat - you are just a sucker.

Democrats suck donkey

Republican suck, oh dear ...

What do you suppose we do about it? Start a third party? Not vote?

As long as the system stays the same way, we have little other choice. The Tea Party experiment didn’t last a decade either, although it did air out some of the dirty laundry of the uniparty.

I don't know - I think about this all the time and my pea brain just comes with nothing productive.

Most of the time I've seemed to vote for the candidate I dislike least.

I do know it this type of thinking that got us president Trump but that is such unique situation its not a basis for a solid strategy.

Somehow we need to make election day occur right after tax day. And maybe do the Reagan thing and we have to pay in cash at counter.

Fortunately, when he sees the backlash from this he will drop the notion like a hot stove. Mike is a weathervane.

Braun should be the poster child for “Coward GOP”. They’re such cowards, that they will give the farm away just to get along.

That’s akin to telling a woman to put out so she won’t have to fear being raped.

Personally, I would like to see Trump offering training and limited deputization to a recognized force of militia across the United States. After 40 or 80 hours of training, issuing a Federal Agent identification and authorization to concealed carry in that capacity. An added bonus would be to provide a Beretta M9 and a Colt M4 assault rifle to each individual along with an Arsenal size amount of ammunition. Put a few thousand of these special agents in all of these anti-gun cities and states. The only duty of these unpaid federal agents would be to be armed and prepared to act in the case of a mass shooting.

Brought to us by the ill-conceived 17th Amendment.

When are the states going to wake up?

I think Zero purchased a large amount of ammunition and handguns for his force of weaponized IRS army. Trump should disarm every federal employee which is not a law enforcement employee. These weapons and surplus of ammunition could then be distributed amongst law-abiding American citizens such as the above stated special agent. That would be one way to make sure that there are concealed carry by law-abiding citizens in Chicago in Los Angeles, and every metropolitan area where gun crime is a problem. This could be part of his initiative to reduce mass shootings and crime.

This sort of quisling talk sounds very familiar - something about giving up some of Europe so that all of Europe wasn't lost to the Third Reich. Yeah, that worked out well didn't it.
