Inglewood mayor’s $342K-a-year assistant escorted out of City Hall, hires high-profile lawyer

Melanie McDade-Dickens hasn't been back to her office since July, and her name has been scrubbed from the city website

...

Melanie McDade-Dickens, a former campaign worker for Inglewood Mayor James Butts Jr. who later secured a city job paying $342,000 in salary and benefits, was escorted out of City Hall in July and has not returned, according to her attorney.

McDade-Dickens, who has served as Butts’ aide for the past eight years, was one of the city’s highest paid employees in 2018, according to publicly released figures. But her contact information has been removed from a staff directory on the city’s website and her job now appears to be in limbo.

...

Though she hasn’t returned to her office, McDade-Dickens hasn’t been fired either, according to her attorney, Carl Douglas, who was a member of the defense team on the O.J. Simpson murder case.

...

Douglas would not say why McDade-Dickens was escorted out of City Hall or explain her grievances. He would only confirm that her exit was against her will and that a chaperone watched over her while she was leaving.

...

In February, attorneys for The Madison Square Garden Co., which owns the Forum, asked a judge to compel Butts and McDade-Dickens to answer several questions they had refused during depositions, including whether they were in a romantic relationship,

...

In a redacted filing, the attorneys argued that an extramarital relationship would be relevant to determining if a witness is biased. Butts is married

Inglewood has a population of 109,000 and the mayor’s assistant is making $342,000? California can’t go bankrupt fast enough. Cali government is a criminal racket. The political class doesn’t even try to hide it.

Well look at her work experience. She earned every penny

In her deposition for the lawsuit, McDade-Dickens said she had previously worked as a merchant teller at Bank of America and then an account revenue supervisor at a property management firm, according to a transcript in the court file. She said she then worked as a stay-at-home mom for six years before the city hired her. Testifying in September, she said she had earned a bachelor’s degree in administration from the University of Phoenix about two years earlier.

Please explain why the Mayor gets to determine his receptionist’s — and that’s what she is, really, at least her day job— salary at all.

Isn’t there some kind of union pay scale that determines such stuff?

As far as wages for her night job go, shouldn’t the Mayor be paying that himself? He could just leave it on the nightstand.

Salaries like this are why people like this go to work in “government”.

She’s working hard for the money but not in government.

She said she then worked as a stay-at-home mom for six years before the city hired her.

I'll fix the typos:

"...she then worked as a stay-at-ho hoe..."

I’m pretty sure there are plenty of corrupt White politicians. I would venture to guess that the common corruption thread is being a politician.

“I’m sure that Col West and Dr.Carson are nowhere near as crooked as your reasoning”

Col West is out of the game, and I don’t think Dr. Carson was ever a politician.

Got any more? Or are we going to look at the facts?
