Robert Mugabe, the longtime leader of Zimbabwe who was forced to resign in 2017 after a military takeover, has died.
His successor Emmerson Mnangagwa confirmed Mugabe’s death in a tweet Friday, mourning him as an “icon of liberation.”
Mugabe was a former guerrilla chief who took power after the end of white minority rule in 1980 and presided over a country whose early promise was eroded by economic turmoil and human rights violations.

Gotta love the wording of that sentence. Makes it sound like Mugabe just had bad luck once he took over. Classic media rewrite of history.

Another good example of a prosperous and well-run, BLACK-run country is Botswana. Although they are not yet “first world”, for quite a few years, they have been one of the fastest-developing economies in Africa, and have some of the best infrastructure outside of South Africa. Very low on the corruption index, and also score very highly on human rights. Same challenges as many other African nations, but the difference is that Botswana is actually overcoming them.
