Robert Mugabe, the longtime leader of Zimbabwe who was forced to resign in 2017 after a military takeover, has died.
His successor Emmerson Mnangagwa confirmed Mugabes death in a tweet Friday, mourning him as an icon of liberation.
Mugabe was a former guerrilla chief who took power after the end of white minority rule in 1980 and presided over a country whose early promise was eroded by economic turmoil and human rights violations.

I’ll say something nice.
Potato chips are a great side for cheeseburgers.
He ruined that country.
Flushed at last!
Should never have been let out of prison, or even allowed to live more than a day after capture.
One of the worst *&$!@ to ever disgrace this planet.
But always lauded by the MSM, proving them insane.
It was much better off when it was Rhodesia. One of the wealthiest countries in the world. Now look at it.
Say hi to Josh
Bob.
I a gentleman from Rhodesia who was a former RAF pilot. During the war he was shot down but survived his serious injuries snd had a farm. After Mugabe took over, farmers, mostly white were being murdered and their property confiscated. They left only with the clothes on their back! Rhodesia was once a prosperous food exporting country, now it is a totalitarian craphole with people starving..
Well, time for another dram from the “special occasions” whisky bottle.
“who took power after the end of white minority rule in 1980 and presided over a country whose early promise was eroded by economic turmoil and human rights violations.”
We can do better than this, can’t we?
Its sad he lived so long.
Gee. Thats too bad.
The bad die old.
Miller time?
Aw, scratch that, because it would make us urinate so much.
Hmmm. On second thought, go for it!
Just sayin’ that it waters and fertilizes the flowers.
There was a great tourist story over Rhodesia/Zimbabwe. Various big-name hotels had been established in the 1950s/1960s. Airlines had direct routes from London, Rome and Paris...almost every other day. Rich people flew down...spent tons of money, and tourism was growing every single year.
So Mugabe took over. He began to show up at the airport with his entourage, and then order the takeover of seats on x-airline. Everyone would be bumped off. Well...if you were sitting there in Zimbabwe with a return ticket as a VIP...the only way back was to accept a non-direct flight. This tended to be at least two stopovers in Africa and added an extra 24 hours (sometimes even 48 hours) to return from a vacation there.
So after about a year of these cancelled seats and VIPs angry over added days to their vacation, people said ‘no’ to making a trip to Zimbabwe. The airlines quietly shutdown the direct flights, and Mugabe was no longer able to ‘steal’ the seats.
Now, one might ask....why not just purchase a VIP plane for the President and fly the entourage with it? Well...the fear was that someone would sabotage the plane and kill Mugabe.
I'm goin' to Cedar Point! Thanks knighthawk.
At least they dont have to worry about him coming back into power, except perhaps in Zombia.
A wicked, wicked man. Beloved by communists everywhere.
The need to send Executive Outcomes back in there, kill off a few hundred leftist thugs, and turn it back into Rhodesia.
