NUNES SUES FUSION GPS
Power Line ^ | 09/05/19

Congressman Devin Nunes, ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, has sued Fusion GPS, Glenn Simpson and left-wing front group Campaign for Accountability, Inc., in federal court in Virginia. It is in considerable part due to Nunes’s tenacity as Chairman of the Intelligence Committee that we know as much as we do about the biggest political scandal in American history, the Russia collusion hoax. His lawsuit alleges a campaign to smear him and to obstruct justice by the defendants.

The lawsuit is pled as a RICO case. I am not an expert on RICO, but I am skeptical that it will go far on that basis. Its allegations seem to sound more in defamation, but there is no such cause of action asserted. (Nunes separately sued Twitter and McClatchy newspapers for defamation in April.)

This is what needs to happen. Every organization associated with leftism needs to be buried under an avalanche of litigation so thick that they are unable to continue operating as corrupt enterprises.

It was Paul Ryan who sidelined Nunes. Not Fusion FSB and their astroturf allies. Cam we sue him too?

Litigation sounds fun, but in time we’re going to regret how the courts make every one of our big decisions for us.

IANAL - but I was involved a little bit in a lawsuit decades ago where one guy sued and one of the claims was RICO. That claim got tossed right away and my impression was that it was something lawyers threw in a lot, and that lawyers got tossed from the case a lot too.

RICO is a racketeering claim, designed to go after mobsters involved in a continuing criminal enterprise. I haven’t read the case but heard some of the allegations - Nunes claims that several different groups conspired to unlwfully smear him over a period of time. Maybe that constitutes RICO, or maybe not. I don’t think the entire case would hinge on the elements of racketeering. Conspiracy is enough.

He is going up against the deep staters and Comey, who has friends in dirty places. Satan has his claws around so many in our gov’t , but I am very proud of Nunez for tackling the Giants...
