Would be nice, I admit, but I haven’t the tiniest doubt the Chinks will be lying, if they claim they’re folding.

Better off with the tariffs. No deal is ok by me.

.... the media wouldn’t be able to take it.

In fact, some way they would find a way to credit O’Bambi.

Reliable China insiders . . .

Those would be the insiders that steal our intellectual property?

Agreeing and doing are two very different things. I know Trump is smart enough to understand that.

I learned in Econ the principle of substitutes and price. When a good or service’s price is too high relative to the value to the consumer, the consumer will search for substitutes.

In this instance the price of dealing with China is too high compared to the value received. I am fairly certain that there are countries in that region that would make excellent trade partners on more favorable terms than China offered. Those countries, I suspect, are already becoming a substitute for China. The longer this goes, the less likely China will be able to unring the bell, so to speak.

There’s reference in the article to the US acceding to the fact “Chinese will cannot be crushed”.

The implication is the US is caving.

If so, Trump will not win reelection.

Should just put a tariff on all those hell-hole countries anyway. Trump can just say that they have no Environmental/ Labor laws so then the libs wouldn’t be able to disagree with him.

Bad news if true, the tariffs should be higher and permanent.
