President Trumps approval rating held steady in August despite growing fears of a potential economic recession and a continued trade war with China.
Forty-five percent of respondents said they approved of Trumps job in office, unchanged since the prior month, according to the latest Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll survey released exclusively to The Hill.
The survey comes as fears of a recession grow, in part over continued trade tensions between Washington and Beijing.
President Trump has the strong support of the American public when it comes to standing up to China, Mark Penn, co-director of the Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll survey, said.
They realize that the tariffs may have negative impacts on jobs and prices, but they believe the fight here is the right one. Americans are highly suspicious of the Chinese government and view their leader as little more than a dictator, he continued.

I’m sorry. Undocumented invasion.
“deepening economic fears” exists only in the minds of the propagandists of the dying lying leftist fake stream enemedia, since main street America seems to be unconcerned given that we pay little attention to the lies of the dying lying leftist fake stream enemedia anymore ...
The only ones with the Economy stress is the FAKEbiasMEDIApukes!!!
Nobody is fearing a recession. To the contrary, the media and Dems are hoping for one.
The only economic fear I know of is that some dips#it democrats will get elected to Congress and continue to block Trump.
The economy crashed at the end of Bush Jr.s term after Democrats talked down the economy. They spent 8 trillion on stimulus and talked about a non-existent recovery for 8 years and after Trump took over there was a recovery which they want Obama to get credit for. Do they think people enjoyed those 8 years so much that they want to go back? I dont think so.
The economic growth under Bush was very uneven, and the crash was blamed on Bush. Obama and the Dems got very little credit for what growth several key parts of the country (W. PA, E OH) had because that growth was clearly despite their policies not because of them. I wish I knew which poll I saw cited in 2016 showed that over 40% claimed we were still in a recession.
Thanks yesthatjallen.
Much better.
