The economy crashed at the end of Bush Jr.’s term after Democrats talked down the economy. They spent 8 trillion on stimulus and talked about a non-existent recovery for 8 years and after Trump took over there was a recovery which they want Obama to get credit for. Do they think people enjoyed those 8 years so much that they want to go back? I don’t think so.
The economic growth under Bush was very uneven, and the crash was blamed on Bush. Obama and the Dems got very little credit for what growth several key parts of the country (W. PA, E OH) had because that growth was clearly despite their policies not because of them. I wish I knew which poll I saw cited in 2016 showed that over 40% claimed we were still in a recession.
