Would you be offended if a Greek person called you “ethne” too? It has the same meaning, i.e. “nations”.

Your accusation that Jews who do not believe in Jesus are “lost” is utterly un-Biblical. Nowhere do any of the Apostles say such a thing, nor does Jesus Himself.

Those harsh punishments haven’t been followed, because of their harshness, for well over 2,000 years (well before the Romans occupied Judea). Come up with something a bit more relevant, and we can have a reasonable discussion.

In practice Jewish law makes it very difficult to apply the death penalty. No record exists of a gentile having been put to death for violating the seven laws. Some of the categories of capital punishment recorded in the Talmud are recorded as having never been carried out. It is thought that the rabbis included discussion of them in anticipation of the coming messianic age.
Funny how you omitted the preceding paragraph.

Goy emerged as a neutral name for nation, but later evolved into a largely derogatory term for non-jews.

Btw, I don’t mind gentile...

Goy do mean nation, but has later evolved to encompass negative connotations as well. I have studied semiotics.

“Long before Roman times it had also acquired the meaning of someone who is not Jewish.[7] It is also used to refer to individuals from non-Jewish religious or ethnic groups. The term goy is not inherently any more or less offensive than the term gentile,[8][9][10] unlike the term shegetz.

As the Jews considered all of the non-Jewish nations in biblical times as polytheistic and idolatrous, the Hebrew word goy had for some time acquired the meaning “heathen”. In a more comprehensive definition, the word goy corresponds to the later term ummot ha-olam (nations of the world).[6]”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goy

So, I would assume it is quite similar to the Christian “heathens” and the muslim “infidel”... in modern parlance..

“Many people, including myself, find being called ‘goy’ offensive.”

“Goy” just means “a people.”

Technically, the Jewish people are a “goy” — the Hebrew goy.

Colloquially it means “non-Jewish.”

Regardless of how used, it’s not derogatory, at all.

That said, I lived through a period of time when “friend” or “buddy” or “pal” were fighting words, so I guess it could have mutated in American English to something negative.

But that’s not how a typical Jewish person would use the word.

What a flaming load of poo.

The theological and political and factual lies of Haaretz are consistent, though.

What are you, a Soros agent?

For most of the last two thousand years, most Jews have lived in Gentile-majority countries, and the one place which is Jewish-majority (Israel) is dependent upon the good will of Christian countries for their survival against surrounding Muslims.

Oh, using Wikipedia (which can be edited by anyone) as a source again? Argumentum ad verecundiam. (Never mind the sources cited there.)

And don’t assume. Not to mention that Mahometans do not use “infidel” (literally meaning unfaithful) but kafir, which specifically means an unbeliever.

“Btw, I don’t mind gentile...”

There’s no problem with that from my P.O.V. - about 99.75% of the world falls into that category, and I’d be both intolerant and stupid to be anything other than tolerant. Given the politics of most Jews (including many in my extended family), I’m actually far more comfortable with Christians (while we all agree not to try to convert one another, though jokes are definitely allowed, even encouraged).

The Noahhide laws, to my knowledge, have nothing to do with Cain (although murder is certainly on the list).

They were established with Noah, so long after Cain was gone.

They are universal, so all people (including the Jewish people) are bound by these laws.

Not any more, though that stated good will is helpful. Israel can now take care of itself.

The Noachide Laws have nothing to do with "Zionism" or the State of Israel (which are controversial in the Charedi world to begin with). The Noachide Laws were given first to Adam, then to Noach (they are named for him because that is the covenant all non-Jews live under), and given finally and definitively at Sinai. The Laws are:

1)Prohibition of idol worship
2)Prohibition of blasphemy
3)Prohibition of murder
4)Prohibition of theft
5)Prohibition of forbidden sexual relations
6)Prohibition of injustice (by setting up Noachide Halakhic courts)
7)Prohibition of eating a limb cut from a living animal

My, aren't those sinister. They're obviously all about trans rights, fluoridating water, and Creating Money Out Of Nothing. Hide your daughters.[/sarcasm]

I suppose it means nothing to you that the people who promote this reject evolution, higher criticism, and the idea of the Bible as "mythology." It probably doesn't make any difference to you whether or not the Bible is "mythology" (G-d forbid!).

If you will go back and look at the only true Theocracy that has ever existed on earth (which was ancient Biblical Israel, which was not chrstian), you will see they didn't have much "freedom of religion" there. It wasn't a "democracy." It wasn't a "republic." It was a Theocracy. You object to that I suppose?

From your screen name I assume you are one of those people to whom J*sus is a European ethnic totem. What do you do about the fact that this same J*sus is also the ethnic totem of Blacks, Hispanics, Ethiopians, and Dravidians? Or perhaps they're all different J*suses. One for everybody.

As for beheading chrstians, the world is not going to remain secular forever. Eventually the True Religion, whichever it is, will be vindicated and acknowledged by all. When this happens all will practice this One True Religion. To complain about Mashiach HaMelekh "beheading chrstians" is a bit like those liberal Jews complaining about Jews converting to chrstianity at the "second coming."

And by the way, does it make any difference which of the several hundred thousand versions of chrstianity one practices, or is just being some kind of chrstian all that matters?

See my tagline.

Very good improvement—but I think that I can fine tune it more—

The two outcomes of life are to be devoting your life to Jesus Christ while accepting him as Lord and Savior or to commit suicide on an eternal basis

Thanks!!!!

Hey man,

I know of no time or occasion where such punishments have been implemented. A lot of the talmud are just theoretical dialectical hegelian discussions... about the future to come...

So, you have different rabbis discussing how Christians should be treated. As far as I can tell... Some talmudic scholars believe that Christians are in breach of the Noahide laws. Whilst other scholars think that Christians are not in breach, but still not good enough for a place in the world to come under the messiah.

A lot of these discussions are how the world should be? Is that correct? Especially under the world of the messiah and the third temple?

I have been a pro-Israel activist for a long time and even threw myself in front of an angry muslim crowd at a pro-Israel march in Norway to protect the jews in the march. I took a good beating. I don’t mind. I do have several friends in Israel and provided economic help to IDF soldiers (Young men who needed help after service).

Reasonable discussion?

I just want to know what people think about these Noahide laws? How gentiles (I accept this term) are not quite human? Do people believe in that? My friends don’t, but it seems like some people do?

I understand jewish people not liking Christianity for “condemning” everyone who does not believe in Christ to hell basically.

I guess the world is complicated, but I do think God is truth (and love) and we should always speak it.

Personally I believe that as long as people follow this:

“What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbor: that is the whole Torah while the rest is commentary; go and learn it.”

That to me is both the teaching of Jesus and the Torah.

Best regards,

Euro.
