No, 50 miles out can do a lot of damage. We don’t usually get devastating winds in North Florida, but the flooding (from storms that didn’t hit directly) made me have to move out of my house twice and have the lower floor rebuilt. Floods from the storm surge are the biggest problem.

Don’t laugh about this, there will be damage.

I’m curious: can you get insurance where you are, do the feds come in and pay for it, or how do you repair and rebuild?

Of course you are right and I pray for your safety. I certainly didn’t mean to give the impression that I was making light of this. It’s just the coverage is over hyped but by golly they are working very hard to cover their ‘overhyping’. Heck as of Friday, this hurricane was going to wipe FL off the map
