Freeport is the Bahamas manufacturing center. A lot of facilities might have been wrecked.

That is the port I meant. (I originally said Freetown). A few years ago, I took an inexpensive cruise with unimpressive ports. In rebuilding Freeport, which was still going on, they had set up very nice facilities and even adequate and interesting tours for cruisers. The residents are very nice, and it all seemed very sensible. What a tragedy if they have to start over, again.

Well, it’s now downgraded to a category 3 as of an hour ago:

I have some extended family members who are stuck there.

They could not get a flight out, and apparently their car rental contracts do not allow them to drive those cars out of the state of Florida.

Needs to be legally rectified IMHO. Once a state of emergency has been declared those clauses should be null and void. Fewer people in the target area means fewer problems for first responders.

The hurricane is a dud. Much ado about nothing.

So I was watching the hurricane coverage on the Weather Channel a few minutes ago. The picture on the channel guide made it look like the reporter was being blown off of his feet. But when I got to the channel a boat that looked like it could be used for either water skiing or hobby fishing turned around just before it got to the pier the reporter was standing on. It made him look pretty silly because the boat was having no difficulty in the water at all. I have been out in much choppier conditions. So then they started talking about how dangerous it was to be out boating when it was stormy out and how the boat almost turned over, which was a complete lie.

Then they went on congratulating themselves about how if the hurricane had been serious all the early warning and hype could really have saved a lot of lives instead of just causing people to disrupt their lives for a week. It was all very pathetic. Any time you tell people that there is going to be a disaster and there isn't they do not believe you the next time. So their exhagerated coverage in the long run could definitely result in lost lives down the road.

Our leftist media has really been hoping for a major event that could be somehow used against President Trump and prove how bad “global warming” is getting. This one may still cause some serious issues and the Bahamas just got the poop kicked out of them, but this one probably isn't going to be the next Katrina or even Andrew so I predict that media interest is going to be waning quickly.

Thank God for that...

A cat 5 running across the Middle of Florida is more to your liking...?

Been there, done that...Andrew

Unless you live in the Bahamas.

They want this to be Trump’s Katrina. They can care less about death and destruction as long as they get Orange Man. They would scorch earth America to all ends if they could get away with it just to get Trump.

I knew I could depend on the good ol’ boys to bring in some kind of equipment to help, thank you sir!
Yeah, I live in a small city between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale.
Sometimes, like now, can really get your butt to pucker but mostly it’s nice.
I never have to shovel the snow outta my driveway.
Our snow comes in on boats and planes.
Dorian now up around Palm Beach and we had 40 MPH wind and rain all day. Just getting our first video from the Bahama’s.
Totally devastation!!!! I’m praying for them folks.

Okay, let me explain the joke.
I was so scared you couldn’t pound a nail in my butt.
Now the storm is over I need a tractor, get it?

Glad your doing ok. The folks in the Bahamas got drilled and it’s a tough situation. I don’t know how you build a building to withstand a storm like that and no place to run.

185 MPH with 220 gusts.
Like parking your house behind a jet plane.
Nothing is going to stand up to that.
That storm sat for 2 days, it was like a really big tornado.
