Prayers up. Horrifying to think of these people going on a fun dive and ending up in a trapped inferno at sea. I hope and pray some struck out for shore and survived.

________

Agreed. I know nothing about this stuff, but why would they sleep all crammed together at the bottom of a boat when they were only 20 YARDS from shore? It seems somewhat strange to one (like me) who doesn't know about these arrangements.

Yes, awful stuff. Fire is terrifying, witness the option some took to dive from the Towers on 9/11, or burn to death. I can’t imagine their last moments on that boat.

"Shore" is a cliff face that is the island Santa Cruz. One of the great things about this dive outfit is that you wake up at a perfect, new dive site each morning. Typical trip boards Friday night. When you wake up, you're at the island and it's time to dive.
