We need to BAN all Flammable Fossil Fuels from boats

I worked on an albacore boat off of the SoCal coast in the summer of ‘65. Lot’s of interesting memories to say the least. I remember the captain being extra careful with the propane tanks. He turn them on and off every time we used the stove. As he put it, the propane is heavier than air and if there were a leak, it would all end up in the bilge. An explosion there and you lose the bottom of your boat, which, I was told was an important part of staying afloat.

Probably old news to you old salts, but it was a revelation to me—never would have thought of it.

A captain that careful might have learned the fact the hard way on another boat!

We’ve owned a 40 ft sailboat for over 15 years. First thing hubby (working firefighter at the time) did was pull out the propane stove and put in an electric cooktop and an electric convection oven. He firmly said......no propane aboard this vessel. We did have a couple of the little one pounders for the bbq. Of course that’s not really feasible for a commercial boat.
