34 people MISSING!!!
Yep.
I’ve done this dive trip.
Guests sleep in the bow.
If the fire was in the stern, there would be no way out
Not too far north. The deepstate traffics humans everywhere.
Wow. That's like having a relative on Titanic. A piece of history.
Good point. If this place had adequate moderators, this thread would be DELETED by now.
The fire must have happen after they all started their dives. Would explain why the crew has been rescued but no one else.
Yep.
Accident, the religion of peace or a proverbial tour group of retired Arkansas State Troopers (old Clinton business) ... no way to know just now.
I pray that’s the case.
Kamaislami attack?
The people who were rescued were probably the crew. I fear for the passengers/divers who were sleeping at the time underneath.
That headline was accurate when vespa300 posted this. Fox changed it.
LOS ANGELES (AP) Firefighters say there were some deaths in a fire on a boat carrying dozens of people off the coast of Southern California.
The U.S. Coast Guard and firefighters responded early Monday to a fire on a dive boat near Santa Cruz Island.
The Daily Beast quoted Capt. Brian McGrath of the Ventura County Fire Department as saying that there were deaths. But McGrath said he could not give a number because the Coast Guard was still searching the water.
He said that five people had been rescued, one with a moderate injury. He said 34 people were still unaccounted for.
Says rescuing in progress, 30 onboard
Unless the article changed after you posted it, I dont see where it says anybody has died.
So the original version was 34 “might” be killed.....................
UPDTE: 7:10 AM: The US Coast Guard and Ventura County firefighters have responded to a fire that broke out on board the Santa Barbara-bsaed boat “Conception” on the north side of Santa Cruz Island around 3:30 Labor Day morning.
In morning tweets, the Coast Guard reported “multiple assets” sent to the boat, used by divers who explore in the ocean waters of the Santa Barbara Channel. Ventura County Fire tweeted photos that show the boat fully involved. A Coast Guard tweet reported a minor injury among a crew member of the vessel.
UPDATE: The owner of a Santa Barbara based diving boat has arrived to brief Coast Guard officials at the Channel Islands Harbor. “Conception” is a 75-foot vessel frequently used by divers who explore the waters in the Santa Barbara Channel.
The owner, Glen Fritzler was not able to provide many details as he arrived at the Coast Guard facility Monday morning. His boat is well known among members of the Santa Barbara harbor community.
More details as they become available.

The Morro Castle was another liner that caught fire and killed hundreds of passengers. Conclusion: do NOT sail on any ship with “Castle” as part of its name.
I’ve done multi-day dive trips aboard both the Truth and the Conception. Very sad. They run a good operation. From Port Hueneme (sp?) as I recall.
