It's a real screamer and has surprised many professionals.
This is obviously Donald Trump’s fault, because he doesn’t believe in man-made global climate change.
Therefore the United States taxpayer must foot the bill for all damage.
This one scares me, and I’ve never been scared of storms. Rode out one that criss-crossed FL a number of years back that wasnt even close to this powerful.
Is there a Category 6? What wind speeds would be required for Category 6?
Wow...I experienced Andrew in South Florida when it hit...
Unforgettable...
Horrific storm and sadly there will likely be a lot of casualties. There are very few structures that could withstand those winds and damage!
Prayers up for the people in the Bahamas.
If you live where hurricanes go, you should expect hurricanes.
Weve had cat 5 canes before, well have them again.
We dont have 1/4 mile skyscrapers in miami because of the sand in the ground and . . . yep . . . regular hurricanes.
Stop the unprecedentef, in modern times and all the rest.
Aug to Nov is Hurricane season in the area. Been that way G-d made this round, bluegreen marble.
220???
Nope...not unless it is up at cloud level...land and buildings and people matter...this is hype and landfall U.S. will be Cat 2-3...IF A and barrier stuff always damages the formation.
It is dangerous, but the hype is hard to take...has my mom panicking in Wilmington NC.
One major hurricane... The Leftists and global warming folks will need to make as much hay off it as they can.
Sit back with your soft drink and popcorn and get ready to see some highly professional propaganda over the next few weeks.
Sorry for the folks in it’s path. It’s no laughing matter there.
Used to see images of palm leaves flapping in the wind and didn’t think much of it because having never actually pruned a palm tree or seen one I had no idea that their leaves are freaking huge, 12 feet long with midribs the thickness of a man’s arm emerging from ‘boots’ that easily weigh 20-30 lbs or more in the case of a common queen palm, and while flexible, there is nothing soft about them. It takes a lot of wind to move them , much more force to rip a leaf off.
Dorian is now tied for having the second-highest winds of any Atlantic hurricanes on record:
1. 190 mph (Allen 1980)
2. 185 mph (Dorian 2019, Labor Day 1935, Gilbert 1988, Wilma 2005)
3. 180 mph (Mitch 1998, Rita 2005, Irma 2017)
4. 175 mph (11 storms, including Maria 2017, Katrina 2005, Andrew 1992, Camille 1969)
Dorian is tied for strongest landfalling Atlantic hurricane on record:
1. 185 mph: Dorian 2019 (Bahamas), Labor Day 1935 (Florida Keys)
2. 180 mph: Irma 2017 (Barbuda, St. Martin, British Virgin Islands)
3. 175 mph: Camille 1969 (Mississippi), Janet 1955 (Mexico), Dean 2007 (Mexico), David 1979 (Dominican Republic), Anita 1977 (Mexico)
Don’t be surprised if we find out they were padding the numbers after all is said and done.
1700 ET update: Hurricane is still strong Cat 5, 185 MPH sustained winds, it has slowed down its pace to 5 MPH!
Is this on the level of a Hurricane Andrew.
Why no reporters in the Bahamas? They were all in Puerto Rico to blame Trump.
