Over the next day, Dorian should continue on a fairly steady northwest course. Forecast models have been consistently projecting that Dorian will make a turn toward the west-northwest on Friday, as it feels the steering effects of a westward extension of the Bermuda high and a weak upper low to its southwest. Models then keep Dorian heading west or west-northwest toward the Southeast U.S. coast, with a landfall in central Florida on Monday the most likely scenario at present.

I agree. People should prepare and take precautions, and I certainly hope everything goes well for them. But the media blows everything out of proportion. This stuff is just like the Boy Who Cried Wolf. Sometimes there really is a wolf. But I personally ignore the media because I assume it’s just hype and fake news.
Considering it is 1 mph short of category 3 now and the western side just cleared the shear, they could be correct.
A category 4 or 5 will destroy even well built structures.
People who have never lived through a hurricane really shouldn’t comment about living through a hurricane.
This aint my first rodeo. But hurricanes are scary as hell.
As long as you have every opening of your house covered you should be ok. I have the best accordion and panel shutters available.
Not looking good for central FL.
Sorry, that was meant for 4runner not deport.
I haven’t lived through any hurricane. All I can offer is best wishes for safety.
One of my early jobs was building and installing those shutters.
I installed the panels myself but had someone install the accordions. The accordions are EXPEN$IVE. So I only had them installed on the largest windows/sliding glass doors that would take too many panels. (Not much space to store panels either)
The panels are easy. I leave the rear ones up all the time for security. And just open the rear accordion for light.
Guess what I’ll be doing tonight? :-)
Seriously? You should try living in Florida without power or AC for a couple of weeks. It’s misery and isn’t caused by 25 mph “puffs of wind.” Average everyday thunderstorms have 50 and 60 mph winds, which is nothing compared to a cat4 storm.
Agree. I’ve been through 3-4 and riding out Dora with 120 MPH winds in Jax was no dang fun.
Just looked at Bastardi’s morning report and they have it as a compact but very powerful CAT 4 at Landfall. Wise to prepare.
Absolutely agree, watching it on TV does not make you an expert. I lived in NO for 40 years and went through many hurricanes and only evacuated for 3. Stay safe Florida folks.

Thanks for posting. Health/life BUMP!
Thanks. BUMP!
Yep been thru a few in my years also. Spent over 6 months
out of our home because of damage from Rita, Sept 2005.
jeff masters is a climate facist. his hurricane blog is a swarming mass of semi-literate cretins that root for the hurricanes.
