Florida is about to be slammed with another major hurricane. Hurricane Dorian is expected to hit the Sunshine State approaching or reaching category four strength sometime next week. President Trump was expected to fly to Poland to attend a World War II commemoration ceremony but will send Vice President Mike Pence instead. Trump is staying stateside to monitor the situation in Florida.
President Trump announced Thursday that he is canceling a planned trip to Poland and will remain in the United States to monitor Hurricane Dorian, which is headed toward a potential landfall in Florida or elsewhere along the East Coast by early next week. Vice President Pence will make the trip instead, Trump said.Trump canceled the Danish leg apparently over the latter’s refusal to put Greenland up for sale. The snub was not the best in terms of diplomatic ties. In fact, one could argue that this was an unforced error by Trump, but the media overreacted of course. Based on the reaction, you’d think Trump had called the Queen Elizabeth the b-word or something. I had forgotten the liberal media’s extensive coverage about how important U.S.-Danish ties are that would warrant such a reaction. When will Trump be bashed for forgoing Poland? Time will tell.“It’s something very important for me to be here. The storm looks like it could be a very, very big one indeed,” Trump said in the Rose Garden of the White House during an event focused on the new space command. Trump was set to travel to Poland this weekend to participate in a World War II commemoration ceremony. Trump was never enthusiastic about the trip and had already shortened it twice. He abruptly called off the second half of the planned trip, to Denmark, earlier this month.
To be fair...From a purely selfish standpoint...and I’m several decades younger than the man...
but I’d have been exhausted from all that G7 madness alone. Why go back to Europe AGAIN if I can avoid it...

In the states, that’s a hugely big deal, where everything is looked at in a cynical, skeptical manner. Pretty much the way his presidency has been treated all along. So, damned if he does, damned if he does not.
Besides, Poland should already know that we have great respect for them, their history of scientists, their defense of borders and of Christianity too.
They will say he cancelled so he could be around to deal with his property in Mar-a-Lago.

Why visit disaster sites? because the media will have loud, long hissy fits if he doesn’t. They stand around watching the second hand on their watches and go crazy if he’s 2 minutes later than landfall.
Or dare he throw paper towel rolls into the crowd like in Puerto Rico.
Trump said publicly that the Danish prime minister could have just declined to sell Greenland. Instead she made rude comments that he regarded as insults to the US, whose people he represents.

I like the fact that Trump walks the walk, and I think (hope) he means it— not just about optics.

IIRC, that speech was covered in depth by the Daily Mail, & virtually ignored by American MSM.
That speech was a huge slap in the face to the AntiFA crowd— those who think Trump is “literally Hitler” & accuse the Greatest Gensration who *defeated* ths Nazis of *being* Nazis.

Hurricane isn’t going to hit until Monday. He’d be back in the WH to oversee recovery efforts. No doubt he wanted to avoid the Fake News propaganda. Broadcast Trump in Poland with hurricane damage in a split screen format.
Soon. They just have to change a few things in the reports slamming him for going to Poland that they already had written.

They won’t. They’d slam him if he did go with a hurricane on the way. This is a rare time when the media will approve of what Trump did.
