DOJ watchdog says Comey violated FBI policies
The Hill ^ | 8/29/2019 | Olivia Beavers

The Justice Department watchdog on Thursday released a scathing report stating that former FBI director James Comey violated FBI policies and his employment agreement with the bureau over his handling of official memos containing classified information.

“We conclude that Comey’s retention, handling, and dissemination of certain Memos violated Department and FBI policies, and his FBI Employment Agreement,” the Justice Department inspector general report states, noting that “much of the content of the Memos was directly tied to FBI investigative activities.”

While Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz declined to make a recommendation as to whether or not to charge the former FBI chief, he said Comey broke FBI policies by seeking to share unauthorized information about ongoing investigations with a friend who then gave it to The New York Times two months after his removal.

He also refuted Comey’s claims that his memos were not FBI records but personal recollections, stating that the director was operating in an official capacity and that he acknowledged in his FBI Employment Agreement that “[a]ll information acquired by [Comey] in connection with [his] official duties with the FBI…remain[s] the property of the United States of America.”

“Former Director Comey failed to live up to this responsibility,” the 83-page report says. “By not safeguarding sensitive information obtained during the course of his FBI employment, and by using it to create public pressure for official action, Comey set a dangerous example for the over 35,000 current FBI employees—and the many thousands more former FBI employees—who similarly have access to or knowledge of non-public information.”

Comey responded to the report's release on Twitter:

I don’t watch Hannity but I have noticed I quit hearing that phrase WEEKS ago.

“I can’t see any reason for any American to follow the law.”

Nor can I. And our government is entirely to blame for that.

“Former Director Comey failed to live up to this responsibility,” the 83-page report says.

*************

The same thing could be said about Horowitz who took forever to complete this relatively simple report and then declined to even make a recommendation as to whether or not to charge the former FBI chief!

This report is a dereliction of duty, which unfortunately is commonplace in the upper levels of our government.

I hope this complete Swamp capitulation wakes the #CloudWatchers up. We’re in serious trouble and the cavalry isn’t coming to our rescue. If America survives it will be up to us, not government bureaucrats.

But no crime I’m guessing? He was only surreptitiously recording the President elect as a member of the “insurance policy” coup attempt.

It appears no democrat will ever be prosecuted. The looming doofus is covered and he knows it.

Why is there a difference between sharing classified information with a friend so that he gives it to the media or giving it to the media directly ?

A total and complete farce. The blindfold should be ripped off of Lady Justice.

There’s no reason to continue with the hoax of equal justice under the law.

Those are the ones that that dumba$$ Hannity always talks about, right?

Unless Horowitz’s report comes out and explicitly says that Comey broke the law, then who give a rats ass what this report says? It means nothing. This is a ridiculous attempt to tell the public...Look at us, we found that he was a bad guy. We’re awesome. Pat us on the back....He’s been gone for how long? 2.5yrs? They can’t touch him.

Empanel a Grand Jury and indict his bony ass, then we’ll be talking, as right now, he’d have no defense. The agency he once led, has already conducted the investigation and gathered the evidence to convict him, right there in that 83 page report. Only reason they’re spouting off about it is, they know it won’t go anywhere with Barr being there.

>>Appears there is one set of laws for them and a different set of laws for us serfs.<<

That’s exactly what it is. If you are a member of the Uni-Party, a Dem, a RINO, Deep State, you are good to go. The law only applies to the poor citizens of this nation who they want to replace through mass immigration, and to those in government who try to stand up to them. Step out of line, the man takes you away.

I’ve been telling my fellow conservatives to not trust police or the military, they will do their master’s bidding and we citizens are not their masters.

Comey walks? Fine. Change the law.

The 'law' as it is today says lawbreakers like Comey get the advantage - THEY can leak.

AND THAT...

People who follow the rules can't. It's the same crap we have with taking guns away from the law biding - giving advantage to criminals.

Change the law - EVERY FBI AGENT CAN LEAK FROM THIS TIME FORWARD. NOT JUST CRIMINAL LIBERALS FBI AGENTS.

Yeah, better to put your head in the sand, and just let our “betters” do as they please without concern, complaint, or criticism from us. Let us not have any editorializing. Let us quietly silently deferentially accept corruption, lest we get upset. We can do something about this, the question is will we?

Howowitz has LEGITIMIZED leaks to friends so they can pass them on to the media. All perfectly legal now.

I realize this is from the ‘HIll’ BUTTTT:

This is a bunch of crapola…

I have to wonder if this was all smoke and mirrors done to take Our President out of office because this TRAITOR got fired for not doing his job he was being paid to do...

Well if it was, then the ‘loony libs’ lost it...this doesn’t prove anything but what WE already knew, that Comey and the gang are a bunch of TRAITORS and need to hang in the town square...

‘THE RULES ARE FOR US AND NOT FOR YOU’ come to mind...

Lord protect Our President and the United States of America, no one else can. Amen.

No. We could barely get people to get off their couch and show up at Tea Party rallies so there’s zero chance they will do anything more.

We are no longer the Republic of the United States of America. We are the Swamp of America.

All these problems (all of them) arise from HR failures.

Have you EVER seen so many unprincipled, childish, ill educated, uninformed, self serving, laughably irresponsible and asinine losers in positions of authority??
